I found this interesting in my mailbox yesterday, it was a newsletter from Nelson Demille regarding a possible series with one of his characters, John Corey. When rumors circulated about a Jack Reacher movie (author Lee Child), many fans of this series mention Jim as a perfect Jack Reacher and he was. Unfortunately, Tom Cruise was looking for another series to balance with his Mission:Impossible franchise, so he won.
There had been talks about a John Corey movie or TV for awhile, but this email seems more definite with Sony TV and ABC interest. John Corey is very much a New Yorker with a wisecracking sense of humor. He is a retired NYPD officer who was shot in the line of duty, but now works for the Terrorist Task Force. Aaron Eckhardt has been interested in this series from the beginning. Alec Baldwin and John Travolta are too old. Donnie Wahlberg and Michael Weatherly have a series. Bruce Willis has the perfect personality for Corey, but don’t know if he wants to return to TV and he’d be a tad old for Corey.
If Jim wants to return to TV and NY, this would be a great role for him. Not only for the badass part that is John Corey, but will give him an opportunity to showcase his humor and finally gets some a little romance (in the books, John is married, that might change).
Since TV pilots are filmed in March, green lights for any possible series should be happening in a month or two, so if anyone hears anything please let us know.
