noah-ideahereâ:
He had to admit, at least drunk emotionally wrecked Jas had some sort of hold on her pizza priorities. Also, it meant he could now have some of her pizza and not have to think about pulling off mushrooms. Trash mushrooms. Noah wasnât exactly sure what to do. It wasnât that he hadnât seen her in such a state, it was Jas after all and she had a tendency with relationships. He really hoped she would learn but at this point he shouldnât be surprised. Sheâd be okay after tonight, they just needed to get through the initial recovery. Like always, theyâd make it through.
Noah smiled, shaking his head lightly as he cupped the hand of hers on his face. âItâs the stubble, I figured Iâd let my beard grow a little this time. Iâll probably shave it within a week though.â He shrugged. âThereâs my girlâ he grinned, wiping her face with his thumb when she reopened her eyes. âMhmmâ he hummed, trying not to burst out laughing in her face. He was glad he was here, of course being there for her, but mostly the entertainment from watching Jas try and string together a sentence. âYouâre right, pizza is basically the staple and foundation of our relationship.â He paused, narrowing his eyes, âI hope you know now Iâm here that weâre sharing this pizza.â
He reached out his hand to stable her, in case she fell. Realizing she was good⌠for now he withdrew them. âI always do, hun.â he smiled. Noah slid his tongue against his teeth, pursing his lips. A small smile fought at the corner of his lips, âI think youâre a lot of things, but sure if you think you heard that, then go ahead.â Of course he had said that, but even he wouldnât let drunk Jasmin to get a big ego. Not on his watch. That also just wasnât the point of their night. She did look really good in her dress, even drunk and fighting her feelings.
His tongue poked the inside of his cheek, nodding with every sentence she said. He reached his hand to brush hair out of her face. His hand hesitated before pulling away from her. âI donât think youâre stupid or being stupid. Itâs her loss Jas, okay. You have every right to be upset with her, and I mean I donât know work romances are complicated.â Relationships in general were complicated, they both knew that. He cupped her face in his hands, looking at her seriously âYou didnât ruin it, babe. I gotta admit, sometimes you do sabotage relationships but I saw how it was with Val. You really liked her and you tried hard to make this work out, you even wanted to make it official. Jas, trust me and listen to me okay. You are not stupid. You arenâtâŚ. always sabotaging your relationships. You arenât gonna die alone. Youâre gorgeous, funny, smart, creative, talented. Any one would be lucky to have you to themselves. Trust me Jas, if you die alone thereâs no hope for me.â
âAnd you are definitely not unlovable, okay Jasmin? He grinned, dropping his hands once more. âWell as youâve said many times before, my life is so boring I have nothing else to do.â He shrugged. âI was also just checking around the office and preparing for the party tomorrow. Also, uhm why is our floor so damn uncomfortable.â
âEveryone'll still love you with a beard,â she grinned, her fingers pawing for his stubble again finding it delightfully distracting from her ongoing heartache, âMaybe even more.â To be honest, Noah could show up to work in a trash bag with a beard down to his knees and everyone would still love him. He was loveable. Noah was the most lovable person that she had ever met. He was perfect. Giggles started to escape her as he hummed, calling dibs on her lovely cheesy, no mushroom pizza. If he were anyone else...
âOkay, okay. You can have some of my pizza. But! But, but, but this means that you're gonna have to answer the door when the guy calls. With the pizza. The pizza guy-,â she then sang, âThe piiiiiiizza guuuuuuuuuy!â Jasmin grinned, beaming at his big, beautiful, bearded face. Noah kept her from falling over (in more ways than one) and she was suddenly so full of...of...love. She felt so gooey around him when her inhibitions were low and the lights were off and pizza was on the way. She wanted to tell him that. Wanted to express it, sing it as loud as she could like Natasha Bedingfield did--- I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you. Platonically, she chided herself even in her hazy drunken mindset.
Jasmin smiled at his denial of her extreme sexiness before going quiet. She was overly aware of his hand brushing her hair from her face. Part of her wanted to cover her ears and drown out his kind words. She wanted to wallow in self pity, she wanted to be unlovable. Ignoring Noah was impossible though and the more he talked, the more she listened. Her heart could have burst. And there was something else, something she ignored and something she definitely wouldn't remember in the morning. Jasmin felt a pang in her chest when he said it, when he said: work romances are complicated. But she didn't know why.
Despite herself, she nodded along. âOkay,â she whispered, leaning her head against his shoulder and finally letting out a breath. The night she'd had with Val (the last night they'd have together, huh?) was starting to hurt a little less already. Although, that was mainly down to the liquor and Noah's ridiculously broad shoulders. Even stupid drunk, Jasmin believed that it was going to be okay now because of him. âThank you,â she said, a little louder, âThank you for- for always being here. And being. Being you. I just... You're you and I- I don't know what I'd...â Words were hard.
âWords are hard,â she laughed, pawing at his face again. âYou wouldn't die alone. I will be there! Even when you're all old and grey and crispy,â she giggled. His words were perfect and they weighed on her heart. Despite all the whiskey and the bad choices, the ruined relationships and all the drama there was Noah. Noah was always there. Her best friend in the world. Her person. âAnd sexy- I'm also sexy.â
How'd he manage to make her feel better when a few moments ago she'd been ready to thoroughly drown in her sorrows? âOooooh, the party! Our party, yes. Are you excited? I'm... I'm excited. We need new floors. You bore,â she grinned, booping his nose before going quiet again. This felt like an important moment, like something had changed and she was supposed to notice. But she was drunk and he was her best friend. âI love you. You nerd.â
