Walk Under The Drizzle...
You worked at a bakery, two blocks away from your apartment, down the street. The scent of powdered sugar and muffins always clung to your clothes by the end of a shift, but today, it felt heavier than usual. You leaned against the glass door of the bakery, untying your apron with a small sigh. Your energy was spent for the day, and the sight of the gray sky didn't help.
As you stepped out onto the sidewalk, soft misty drops of rain began to fall. It wasn't a huge downpour though, just a quiet peaceful drizzle. You hovered under the striped awning, bracing yourself for the damp walk home.
You jumped, a small gasp escaping your lips as a pair of hands lightly squeezed your shoulders. You turned around, ready to scold whoever was being a menace, only to find your boyfriend, Sunoo, standing there. He was dressed in an oversized denim jacket, his brown hair slightly damp, and a cheeky grin stretching across his face.
"Sunoo! You scared me!" you breathed, the tension immediately draining from your shoulders. "What are you doing here? Don't you have practice?"
"Finished early today." he lied smoothly, though you knew he'd probably got scolded by staff with his excuse, just to catch a break. He reached out, gently tucking a stray hair behind your ear. "I missed you too much today. And I heard my girlfriend was working way too hard, so I thought I’d provide an escort service."
He presented a sturdy transparent umbrella in his hand, clicking it open with a satisfying thwack.
"Come here, let's go now." he said, pulling you close to his side so you were tucked securely under the umbrella, right next to him.
The walk to your place was slow. Usually, you'd hurry to get back home as soon as possible, but with Sunoo's arm linked firmly with yours, the world felt like it had slowed down. The rain created something like a rhythmic white noise, as if shielding you from the rest of the busy street.
"I'm sorry we haven't seen much of each other lately." Sunoo said softly, his gaze fixed on the path ahead. He adjusted the umbrella, tilting it more toward you than himself. "The Australia tour prep has been... a lot. But I really wanted to spend sometime with you. It feels like a year since we last spent time together."
"I missed you too, Sunoo." You admitted, leaning your head against his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around your shoulder, as his thumb traced small circles over your sleeve. "How was the bakery today? Tell me everything."
As you started describing your chaotic day, Sunoo listened to it like it was his only escape in life. The drizzle continued to fall, but as you walked together under that single umbrella, you didn't feel the chill at all, continuing to walk down the road, hand in hand. Although you knew the next day wouldn't be the same, you felt like this walk back home with your boyfriend was the best thing to happen to you today.
