i REAAALLY would've loved delving more into the overlord using dark matter and crystals to spread its reign and take people's autonomy. i mean that's what it's been doing all this time right - taking people's autonomy

it used the great devourer to infect garmadon with a venom that would slowly take away his ability to make his own choices that are of his own volition

it used dark matter to turn people's hearts evil and make choices they wouldn't make otherwise (reminds me of the gong of shattering but i do think they're very different)

and the crystals seem to have the exact same effect as dark matter but more externally visible considering the crystals sticking out of people's bodies. i imagine this is just like a more powerful form of dark matter
