Dear Future Daughter’s 18th Birthday
Hello Miss Kiara,
You’re finally 18, my young lady has finally grown up! I’ve watched you grow up from the first breath you ever took until this very moment; Oh how time flies in a blink of an eye. I know I have probably told this story many times, but your mom and I were so in love with the idea of you back when we first started our relationship that we even named you way before you were born. I knew I wanted to become a father at a young age and was blessed to be the father of you. I know I was tough on you with school, but I just wanted to give you the educational push my parents never gave to me. It warms my soul knowing that with every step of the way, you have opened up and poured your heart out to me. I’m happy you call me your best friend, and I hope to still be that best friend even throughout college. But you could exclude out some details while trying to catch me up on things ;) I know college is a big step and I can’t physically be there for you, but I’m only a phone call away. Don’t be like me at your age: young, dumb, and horny. Ahhh, maybe I went to much of details; I do apologize :) Well just be yourself, if there was anything that you should take from me during my college years is that you should be open, make friends, and have FUN! Well not too much fun and study.
I want you to follow your heart and find out what you want to do in life! You don’t have to listen to me nor your mom on your career path, as long as you are happy. I know I get controlling at time and I do mean well, but live your life and no one else. Be strong, confident, and a goofball at the same time! It will help with finding your true friends that you could be yourself around. Don’t change for anyone, but for yourself. Just become the best version of you.
My sweet Kiara, I just hope you follow your dreams. I hope that you will be successful in whatever you do. I hope you fall in love. I hope you don’t give up when times are hard. I hope you become someone’s college best friend. I hope you’ll still tell me all these stories. And I hope you’ll still be daddy’s little girl. If there was any wisdom I could pass on down to you it’s this, “Everything happens for a reason, you may not know it yet nor understand it, but there is a reason. Let go and let God.” I love you, always and forever; ocean deep. Your Dad.
