Just Wishful Dreaming

“I know we’re just friends, but I feel it could be something more.

Both broken from our past, how do we set this foundation to ensure it’d last.

I feel you slowly drifting from me, I know you’re protecting your own heart, but I don’t want us to be unspoken art.

Please don’t get me attached, just to pull the rug from under me... it’s already happened in my life X3.

Am I silly to think it’d work between us two... I’m having a hard time seeing it all through and through... or maybe we’re dangerous for each other?

I know I’m no good baby, but please teach me how to love you because I’m a delicate rose with thorns that’d cut you open like a knife, and that just ain’t right.

But if you’d water me regularly, within time my thorns would become tender...

I know you’ve had a rocky past you’re not ready to let go of, but I promise I’d never try and hender.

But how could I set you free, when you’ve been the only one here actually listening to me. Maybe you’re just a mender?

Tell me what you see? Because in my eyes regardless you’re still good enough for me.

Yet I still don’t know the right answer, but the Universe seems to pull us close... and something in my heart tells me that together there isn’t any storm we couldn’t weather.

But we desperately need to learn to love ourselves, and maybe in time we’ll see... if we’re actually meant to be.

I’m terrified to figure it out don’t get me wrong, but I just know we’re singing the same song.

And this might sound silly, but before I met you I was hurting so bad I felt myself turning to stone.

Now somehow I’m singing the blues in a different tone.

And baby I could take it far and talk about the endless ways you’d be able to make me moan.

But for now it’s all up in the air, and truthfully I just wish I knew the right answer so I didn’t have to worry or care.

And I apologize in advance, I don’t mean to stare, I’ll just tell a lie and say it was a glare or a stupid piece of hair.

You’ve got me puzzled, but I promise when you’re around you bring me peace.

You can be my man and I could be your lady, we don’t have time to be shady.
