Try to focus on fundamentals. One skill at a time (value/color theory/figure drawing/perspective) until you reach certain point that you think it's okayish to switch to another one.
Study and keep learning. I myself believe I still have many things to learn and improve on. Like, I actually take class in in-depth color theory next month. Take class (with mentor that actually gives feedback) if possible. It is shorter way to learn than being self taught.
Try to surround your self and consume as many genre of art as possible. I follow people regardless of topic and genre they cook (anime girls, furry, comic, cartoonish, splash art, visual dev, concept, background artist, etc)
