“Sorry, forgive me for pointing it out but you don’t look it, Jasmine.” He wasn’t completely stupid, after all, and he knew how to spot certain social cues - she was clearly upset and perhaps a little stressed. He couldn’t blame her either and her fake smile confirmed it. “C’mon, you don’t have to lie to me. We could uh, we could go get a drink or something? Try and cheer you up? Study hall isn’t a great distraction when you’re sat alone…”

“Alright!” Jasmine decided to take Henry up on his offer. Study hall was just an excuse to avoid her emotions anyways. Being able to slightly clean up her face with a grin, she wiped the tears with her sleeve. “Where did you plan on taking me?”

“ that’s super understandable, get it done really quickly so that it’s all done and you have time for yourself and stuff. ” she nodded in understanding, being someone to plan ahead as well - not that she ever stuck to her plans. “ oh, okay !! that’s fine, i won’t mention it. and it’s nice to - oh, wait, i already said that … ” in a reflex, the blood rushed to anna’s cheeks, and she tried to hide her face behind her hair. “ sorry about that !! i’m enjoying them. well, most of them … some of them are quite hard. and i’m struggling a bit !! ” which was another reason to enjoy some time spent with fellow students.

“What are you struggling in?” Jasmine didn’t mean to pry, but she was also wondering if she could be of any help to Anna. “If you ever need a study buddy, it’s usually not hard to find me around the campus.” Smiling, she sat back against the tree, listening to the wind that was breezing by. “What else do you like to do for fun Anna? Maybe we can hang out sometime!”

A BEAMING GRIN OF HIS OWN, replicated against jack’s lips. the bag of all kinds of candies swinging slightly as he stopped before jasmine. “it’s a secret, you can see when you open the bag,” he might’ve as well picked one of everything from inside the store, only leaving the ones he deemed not the nicest. m&m’s, nerds, twizzlers — only to mention a few of what he currently held within the bag.

holding the bag out, smile only growing as the excitement bubbled inside the white haired boy. ‘surprise! i hope you like them all! — we should have a candy night, that’s a thing right? get high on candy and watch movies.”

Jasmine was very excited about what was in the plans for Jack and her. “We should definitely have a movie night with candy. This is going to be a fun night.” She genuinely believed that. The more she was around Jack, the more she enjoyed being around him. He was a wonderful human in her eyes. “Our sugar high’s going to be insane though.”

riley pressed a soft smile to her lips at jasmine’s words, bobbing her head in response. she was quick to help the other girl get her stuff back into her backpack. “you work too hard, jasmine,” she told her with a fond smile. riley really admired jasmine’s work ethic, she was sure they other would go far in life, just by her she applied herself. “you gotta have the right study/life balance,” she said. “otherwise you’ll go crazy, or get ill,” she added. she pulled at the zip of jasmine’s backpack, making sure that nothing could fall out if she were to tumble again, which riley hoped wouldn’t happen. “have you eaten much today?” riley asked, getting back on her feet and holding a hand out for jasmine to take, if she wished to do so. “i’m gonna walk you back to either your dorm or somewhere where there’s food,” she said with a determined nod, but a bright smile. 

“oh my day’s been fine, although I was late to psychology because I got distracted painting this morning,” she admitted. “but the professor didn’t seem to mind after I apologised,” she added pleasantly. “i just got back from dance, well not official dance, dance that’s within the drama club,” she added, grabbing her own gym bag which was a few feet away.

Jasmine was glad that it was only Riley that witnessed her tumble. She liked the female, finding her presence soothing. She nodded in agreement to what was being said. She had been taking on a lot lately. “No! I haven’t been able to find time to eat yet today.” She sighed, knowing it wasn’t good for her to skip meals, but she had found today to be very stressful. “That sounds great Riley. I could go for some food.” She smiled at the female, actually glad to have someone to talk to, while listening to the story about the morning’s mishap. “You sure do love to paint, but I’m glad the professor was understanding about the situation.” She perked up even more at the mention of dance. “If you didn’t already know, I run the school’s dance club if you like to dance. Maybe you could tag along with me sometime! I know you also have a busy schedule though.”

anna nodded excitedly as the girl agreed with her - something that didn’t happen much when it came to strangers, if she had to be honest. “ yes !! you can complain about the workload, but also help each other out, right ?? ” she shrugged, taking out her books and arranging them sort-of-neatly in a semi-circle in front of her. “ of course !! my class is packed, so you don’t have to worry about fresh blood, or something !! ” she didn’t really know what the correct expression was, but it didn’t matter that much. “ i’m anna, it’s so nice to meet you. i’m having the best time - after that halloween drama, i guess … ”

Jasmine gave a small grin, while listening to Anna talk. She slightly giggled at the female’s bubbly personality. “I just want to get the workload done, so that I won’t have to look at it again.” She suddenly started to frown with the mention of the Halloween party drama though. “Maybe we shouldn’t talk about the Halloween drama! I just want to look forward to the future.” She paused to look at her study book, trying to fill in some notes, before her next comments. “It’s nice to meet you too Anna. My name’s Jasmine. How are you enjoying your classes by the way?”

“Mhm, but of an understatement,” Merida mumbled around a mouthful of food before swallowing (her mothers voice in the back of her mind scolding her about manners) and grinned at her roommate. In all honestly the Halloween party hadn’t really effected her all that much, mostly because she was still so new to the place that she’d just found the whole thing hilarious. But she didn’t think Jasmine found it all that amusing. So she shrugged her shoulders a little, “I’m alright y’know. The whole thing was kinda wild to watch when you have no idea who half the people involved are. Who even did it, do you know?” Because Merida still didn’t, not that she’d know who they were even if she did.

Jasmine sighed speaking to Merida. She could tell the female didn’t particularly care about the mess from the party. “Yeah! I know who did it, but how about we forget about it for now?” She was eager to change the subject, hoping there was more to talk about instead. “Do you have any more exciting stories to share about where you grew up?” She was genuinely curious to hear about the female’s adventures from being a part of DunBroch Whiskey.

a wave of relief washed over anna as she sat down eagerly, ready to get started. “ oh my gosh, such a relief !! i thought i’d just be left to my own devices - i mean, don’t get me wrong, i’d totally still come sit with you if you studied something else, because company is great for studying. but this is even better !! ” she took out one of her bigger books, taking a moment to get the correct page. “ i’m doing the general courses now, it’s all introductory because i’m a first year student. but that sounds so interesting ?? ”

Jasmine smiled, agreeing with Anna. “Company’s great for studying. That’s very true.” She thoroughly enjoyed the female’s presence, nodding along to everything Anna had to say. “You’re only a first year student? I’m glad to see new students still coming to join us at Sherwood.” She slowly turned to her book, flipping through another page, before she spoke again. “What’s your name? I hope you’re having a good time here.”

HIS EXCITEMENT BUBBLED OVER, wide smile splitting over his lips, a bounce in his step as he practically hopped over to different types of candy, only later when he had his hands full did he return to pick up a basket and drop the candy into it. mostly filled with chocolate that he decided was similar to twixes, and some sour candies, because he truly believed everyone needed sour candy. 

after paying, he met jasmine, grinning while he hid the bag full of candies behind his back. “I hope you like all of them.”

Jasmine was waiting for Jack with her bright smile. She slowly started showing him the bags of candy she bought with the cotton candy, Laffy Taffy, Skittles, Starburst, and Tootsie Rolls. “What did you get me?” She winked at him, pretty sure they were going to get a sugar high tonight. “I’m sure I’ll love it.”

hmm. swinging his backpack of his shoulder, henrik set to work rooting through its contents. sure, he probably should have been able to say with confidence what he did or didn’t have on him, but anyone who knew him knew that henrik tended to be rather scattered. his backpack could carry any random various assortment of items at any given time and the boy would probably be none the wiser. finally, after far too much time spent pushing aside useless knick knacks, henrik pulled out and held the laser pointer up triumphantly. “ aha ! i knew keeping all this stuff on me was bound to come in handy eventually. ” flipping it on, he pointed it strategically down the hallway, sending the little red dot scattering. “ i’m not sure he could have gotten that far, we’re probably best off staying - oh shit ! it worked ! ” sure enough, he could see the beginnings of a little black snout poking out round the corner. 

Jasmine happily smiled at the cat coming around the corner. “Congrats Henrik! Now hopefully you can keep your cat inside the dorms!”

Shit. Henry was not good at dealing with crying girls. Guys, he could do, an arm round the shoulder and a pat on the back usually sufficed (and if not, a hug), but girls were different, at least in his mind. “…Are you okay?” Strike one, that was a stupid question. “I mean, of course you’re not because… because you’re about to cry-” Oh fuck. Even though he knew she was talking about bumping into her, his heart clenched at the idea of knowing shit would happen. Because even if he hadn’t known why, he had known about those stupid balloons and he couldn’t get it out of his head. “It was an accident, yeah… Uh, do you… DO you need a hug or someone to talk to?” Clearly she was very upset and despite his plan to lay low, he couldn’t leave her like that.

“I’m okay.” Jasmine sadly turned down the offer. She wasn’t much for talking about feelings, even with her tear streaked face. Mainly, she was just embarrassed. “I just need to get to class. It’s a study hall, but it’s the best distraction I have right now.” She slowly tried to walk away from Henry, trying to hide her face. All she wanted was a break. She wanted a break from feeling pressured. She wanted a break from the chaos. Just a break! She paused to look at the male though, trying to smile. “Thanks Henry!”

to no one’s surprise whatsoever, anna struggled with concentration. her room was impossible to study in, since it was basically where all the other magic happens ( naps, netflix binges, extreme home makeovers ) so she had to study at other places. mainly the library, but it was pretty jam-packed today and she didn’t particularly feel like it. she really just wanted to sit at a picnic table or under a tree, but she got lonely quickly; the invitation that was called to her came as a surprise, and a welcome one at that. “ oh !! i’d love to, actually. you… don’t happen to study anthropology… do you ?? ”

Jasmine smiled at Anna’s company. She’d be glad to have a study partner. “Yeah! I study anthropology. Come take a seat!” The weather was getting colder out, but she would still much rather study in fresh air, instead of a crowded dorm room. “What kind of things are you studying in anthropology? I’m focusing on Arabian culture. I’m also trying to focus on the commonwealth of people and their needs.”

Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?

Jasmine doesn’t mind showing a little skin. She’s usually covered at the campus, but she’s definitely in a bikini at the beach or depending on the party, she’s in a crop top.

Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?

Jasmine likes to have nice things, but she’s also very humble about her wealthy upbringing. She realizes she’s luckier than most, so she doesn’t try to brag.

In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?

How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?

Jasmine doesn’t say that she loves someone without meaning it. It’s hard for her to say this, especially if it’s not her immediate family. She doesn’t pass the words around lightly.

What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?

Jasmine loves her father, but doesn’t see eye to eye with him about things. After her mother died, her father grew very protective of her, leaving little to the imagination. She had to follow strict rules, while her father tried to keep his eyes on her at all times. Running the family hotel and motel business was stressful, while raising a daughter, but he made it work. She felt too sheltered though and has always wanted to branch away from that, being able to make her own decisions, experiencing life a little differently. She’s still finding her way in college, but has many ideas now for her family’s future.

Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?

Jasmine’s an only child. Her closest friends growing up were her cats. Her first cat belonged to her mother, which holds a special place in her heart. She never takes her feline friends for granted.

Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?

The Samaha hotels and motels are usually visited by the wealthy due to the high prices. Jasmine realized as a teenager that not everyone was as fortunate as she was, having grown up around the wealthy. She left her home once to encounter a homeless person, which she donated some of her allowance to, trying to help him and his dog. Realizing that there’s people that don’t even have a roof to sleep under, she more than ever wants to try and fix that. Her father wants her to take over the family business, but if she does, she’s determined to make things more affordable and advertise to more charities.

Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?

If Jasmine has a nightmare, it’s usually about her mother’s death. She doesn’t like to think about it or talk about it to just anyone. They were very close.

What does your character like in other people?

Jasmine likes kind and considerate people. She tries to judge people on their personality, instead of looks. She tries to keep her friends happy, and if you’re an animal lover it’s even better.
