I'm not vegan but I don't think there's a better example of "making up a person to get mad at" than how non-vegans talk about vegans. yeah I've met obnoxious vegans, you probably have too, and I still hear far less from them than I do from non-vegans inventing arguments to piss themselves off

So crazy that straight women have accepted there's always gonna be a certain degree of misogyny in their partners that it doesn't even phase them anymore. “Yeah he demands i wear full clothes when I go out even for an errand but he's really open minded about other things!” oh and especially in Indian households, “his mother Actually said it's Ok for me to wear Full Frocks sometimes but I have to wear Salvar Suits in my own home all the time! But look! She ALLOWS me to wear frock sometimes!” And these people pat themselves on the backs for "allowing" girls to breathe. I'm literally gonna get violent. You're literally not living. Whoever sold you this dream doesn't have your best (or any) interest at heart. Are you a child? Why’d have to take permission from anyone FOR anything? You're a beautiful, smart, earning woman please do not try to trap yourself in the male fantasy of marriage. Do not shrink, do not perform so much labour for the illusion of intimacy. No man is worth killing yourself for. You're more worthy than this.

I think it's actually essential to children's moral development to be exposed to short stories moderately beyond their reading level where a bunch of fucked up shit happens and then instead of offering a moral lesson or any sort of emotional or narrative resolution it just ends.

(Ideally these stories should be presented in the form of poorly curated anthologies with the most generic titles imaginable, thereby rendering their contents impossible to identify or find later in life and leaving the affected individual wondering whether they dreamed the whole thing.)
