Paint & Pots

    Logan’s tendency to go invisible could be considered a bad habit. He was already quiet as it was and he already practiced typical antisocial behavior by making it clear he had no interest in having or holding conversations if not completely necessary but it just wasn’t enough for him. So there he sat, in the library, silver eyes eagerly scanning over the open book on the table when he was so rudely interrupted by someone plopping down on his lap. “Woah! Hey!” He awkwardly spoke up while simultaneously making himself visible for the first time in thirty minutes. “Occupied.” He chuckled, rubbing at the back of his neck as if it could magically make the situation disappear, but unfortunately that was not a part of his abilities.

“If you really want me to, why not.”

Recognizing the cheery voice, he turned with a light smile towards Jasmine, “Hello yourself!” his voice surprisingly un-strained, given how internally upset he was. “How’s your day been?”

Quint was preparing for his dance class that was about to begin. Students would arrive in a few minutes and the place was still a mess. He did know exactly what had happened in here or who had done it, but it was beginning  to put him in a bad mood. So he wasn’t to thrilled when someone entered the room ahead of schedule. 

What did it feel like when you first exhibited your bionic powers? Really weird- Dad is still dealing with the garden I think....

Do you believe your powers fit you well? Why or why not? I guess? They’re about as handy as I am...

If you could have any other power in existence, what would it be? Teleportation, cryokinesis, chromokinesis... 

Do you feel as though your bionics are jeopardizing your relationships? Give one or more examples. Nope, only making them stronger!

Does the academy suit you? What needs to be changed? ‘What to do if your powers are useless’ class, maybe? 

Have you fostered healthy relationships with the other bionic students/mentors? I guess? I dunno...

What does heroism mean to you? Doing anything to protect the innocent.

Are good and evil definable? Maybe?

“No.” He looked at the girl with a kind, but firm, expression, “Do not spend your life living up to what others want from you. Get yourself to a place you are happy with. That is all that is important. And if you are at that place, there is nothing wrong with exploring around a bit more, as long as it is what you want to do.”

“Dude, seriously, watch the movie, it’ll make you feel better.”

Anson offered a soft smile at her acceptance. “Oh, no. I’m not a big gamer. I, usually, just play them when I can’t find anything else to do — I use them more like a thing to keep me busy.” 

“It’s alright. Would you still like to sit with me and watch?” He offered.

“Yeah, actually.” She smiles, shuffling over to take a seat. “Do you game a lot?”

‘Oh come on, there’s no definition of “superhero material”,’ Kaelyn said. ‘Look, it’s the person that makes the superhero, not the power.’ She knew the girl’s feelings because she had people told her that her powers were not as useful as some others, but she believed in them, and she loved her powers. She did everything she could to make up for the lack of physical super power, and she would never trade them for anything else.

“Yeah, there is... It’s being able to actually defeat bad guys... and Being able to beat them up won’t always cut it.” She says, “And paint kinesis isn’t gonna work either.”

“Have you seen Sky High? Maybe you’re too young for it, but watch it and you’ll feel better about botanokinesis. As for paint manipulation…you could always throw paint at the bad guys’ faces. Anyway, if you weren’t useful in some way, you wouldn’t be here.”

“To be quite honest with you, I do not know. However, I do know there are no small amount of people here ready and willing to help you figure it out. And there is no shame in not being cut out for that type of life. I know of several bionics who do not partake in super heroics. Do not feel as though you have an obligation to do so, the only person whose standards you must live up to are your own.”

“Why ever would you think that? Ever power is unique and useful, you just have to figure out why and how. Which is what you’re here for,” Quint consoled, “and in any matter, it is the person rather than the power that makes a hero.” Quinton was far from used to being the mentor a student would talk to about this. He was usually the “cool albeit hella strict” teacher. 

“I dunno.” Jasmine mumbles quietly, looking distant. 

“Just out of curiosity,  and maybe to help me out with a lesson plan, what would be the one thing you’d want to be different if you could design your own parallel universe? Only one though and, much like a genie, you can’t wish for more wishes”
