More Matuku Moana for your feed today. This one of a couple feeding in the Portobello catchment in the late afternoon.

This what I assume is a breeding pair of Matuku Moana (aka White Faced Heron) chilling on a jetty. The reflection of sunset light on the water from the hills behind gave some stellar colour contrast.

The Kakaruwai aka South Island Robin. This cheeky wee bird photographed at Orokonui Ecosanctuary here in Dunedin (New Zealand). The bands indicate it was part of a research project a few years back.

Hoiho!! Aka the Yelloweyed penguin. With <500 of these guys on mainland New Zealand it’s always a privilege to see one, let alone two!

Tricky birds to photograph as the lil buggers do not sit still! Managed to catch this one in a lil late afternoon light.
