“Ugh.” She shook her head with a laugh. She hesitated when he gave her permission again to ask a question, this time though the pause was to actually think of one. It had to be a good one, but not something that would make him not want to answer anymore. “What’s your best childhood memory?”
He thought about the question momentarily, “My favorite?” Jared wasn’t exactly sure, “I scored the league championship touch down in my youth league when I was ten, that was a pretty big deal. I loved it.”

“You know what I meant.” She rolled her eyes, nudging. “Like you’re more than just this… famous hot guy.” She paused, pointing at him with a warning look. “And don’t comment on me calling you hot, that’s not the point here.” She dropped her hand, furrowing her brows. “Jared, if you really don’t want to talk about it… you don’t have to. I’m not going to be mad.” She promised. “We don’t have to talk about that.”
He smirked, “I won’t comment on it, but I’m not going to forget it.” Jared let out a small laugh after that, because that alone was a comment but he didn’t really care. The boy sighed, “Nah it’s fine, I was serious. Ask me a question.”

“I think it’s interesting.” Laney shrugged, moving to somewhat lay beside him (as best she could in the small bed at least). “Come on. “I’m sorry, am I currently not a human in your eyes?” Jared jokingly asked, knowing what she meant, or at least assuming she was referring to his career and fame. “You say that Delaney, but it’s... weird. I don’t talk about that shit, I just lived it and let it go.” Part of him just didn’t want to re live any of it by talking about it, and the other part of him didn’t want to come across as affected by it, that’s how he portrayed himself ever since his mugshot got him a contract. Unaffected by his past. “What do you wanna know?” He gave in slightly, turning over to her so he was actually looking at her.Â

She watched him go to the other side of the bed, raising an eyebrow when he grabbed a ball. Okay. She thought about his question, although she knew it was a joke, tilting her head to the side. “Mm. Maybe I do.” She said, honestly leaning back on her hands. “So come on. Give me all the details of your criminal exploits. I want to know everything.”
Jared put the ball down and collapsed into his pillows, his hands behind his head and elbows out as he sighed, “I knew you did.” Jared laughed rolling his eyes at her wording, “I’m not some bank robber or part of the mob family or something, none of it is actually that interesting. I don’t think you actually want to hear my boring sob story about growing up.”

She rolled her eyes teasingly at his comment, crossing her arms across her chest. “Okay, it’s not like you’ve been inviting me over and I kept saying no. I can’t read your mind, Jared. I don’t know when you want me to come over unless you actually tell me.” She slipped past him into the room, going to sit down on the bed. “I will say that it did help a little bit. I’m intrigued by your criminal past.” She teased, looking over at him.
The boy laughed, turning as she walked in and following behind her, “Lighten up, it was a joke.” He said walking over to the opposite side of the bed and grabbing a ball from the side table as he began to throw it against the wall to keep himself busy, “Why? You have a thing for bad boys or something?” Jared taunted, his eyes glancing over to the girl momentarily with a smirk spread on his lips, before focusing back on the wall in time to catch the ball.
It had been a while since the two had actually spent time together, Jared was right about that and the girl didn’t really have any excuses for it. It’s not like she had been doing anything productive. It just hadn’t come to mind until the two had started talking earlier that night and it would be nice to actually spend some one on one time with someone instead of rewatching episodes of Criminal Minds in her dorm room with her dog. She sent a final text to Jared as she approached his door, slipping her phone back into the pocket of her sweater before knocking on the door. “It’s me.” @jaredchandler
Jared wouldn’t be able to explain why he was irritated by the fact that he hadn’t spent time with the girl lately, but he was. Of course he got a different reaction from her then any girl before when informed of his time in juvie, having to inform her about it all. He actually laughed as he texted her to come over to hear about his criminal past, because usually it was girls bringing up his mugshot and thinking a criminal past made him hotter and the line was used to get in his pants and they had no real interest in hearing about his past. But he already knew Laney would respond differently, and she had so far. A smirk was on his face as he opened the door, “I can’t believe it took finding out I’ve been to juvie to get you back over here.”
