The Market Street Railway included a photo of mine in this year’s streetcar and cable car calendar. I caught streetcar no. 1061 pulling out from the barn via Dolores Park.

I created an app – munitime.app – that displays arrival times for the San Francisco Muni transit system.

Muni Time is a web app that runs in a browser, but I built it so you can bookmark individual stops and stations, which will then open like a native app. 

During World War II, the Nazi regime created a color-coded badge system to classify concentration camp prisoners. 

It was based on the six-pointed Star of David, the Jewish equivalent of the Christian cross icon. It was easy to understand at a glance, and the design standards, with examples, could fit on a single page. 

The way it worked was that the color of the downward triangle was the primary classification and visual element:

Blue = immigrants, red = political prisoners, and so on. Each downward triangle can be combined with an upward yellow triangle to form a Star of David that identifies someone as Jewish as well.

Letters were used for further classification, so a red triangle over a yellow triangle with a “P” on it identified a person as a Polish, Jewish, political prisoner.

This is also the origin of the pink triangle, which represents the gay community and the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement. Between 5,000 and 15,000 homosexual men were exterminated for the crime of being gay.

Every year in San Francisco, a giant pink triangle is laid out on the tallest hill overlooking the eastern half of the city for Pride month. 

LEGO created Pride themed set where each color is represented by a monochromatic minifig.

The Chevron station near me has signs blaming high gas prices on the California state government. Someone called them out.

My neighbors are having a sidewalk sale and of course I bought the working HO scale DeWitt Clinton train set for $10.
