Marquise with chalcedony 💜
Releasing this cuff I made last week, into the wild today ✨
Working on statement pieces this month inspired by aquatic plants.
.
Throw back to this lodalite necklace from a few years ago. I have some new scenic moss agate cabochons that I'll be using to create water centric themed designs. This one shown was partially inspired by lotus root cross sections and lily pads.
Fire Agate Leaf Portal Ring 🌈🔥
Fire agates are some of the rarest gem stones on earth, said to be even rarer than diamonds. These volcanic formed iridescent agates are known to come from only three places in the world, Mexico, California and Arizona. This beautiful specimen is from a mine in Arizona known as the "Deer Creek" mine. Deer creek fire agates are noted for their superior eye clean translucency and full spectrum of color, including purple, which is the rarest color to see in fire agates. As this one is turned in the light, its colors light up in green, gold and purple. Another thing that I think is especially fantastic about this gem is that it is cut almost symmetrically, which is quite rare to find when looking for fire agates from stone cutters. I love the asymmetrical ones too, this one just lent itself to being perfect to be set in this design.
I purchased this stone 6 years ago from a stone cutter that was retiring. It is the smallest of the three specimens that I purchased, but in many ways it is the most charming. These are stones that you really have to see in person to appreciate, but I have done my best to capture as much as their magic as possible in these images and video. 🖤 #jamiespinellojewelry

Honey Chalcedony Shield ring
I added a few sun inspired designs last night, including this honey colored chalcedony shield ring which has now sold. Yellow is a color I haven't used often in my work. I created this small collection as a way to combat my feelings of seasonal affective disorder and focus on feelings of the warmth of the sun and the coming of spring. I know much of the country is still in winter, but it won't be long now! ☀️

Lemon Quartz Leaf bud ring and small Roselle ring
Several designs celebrating the return of the sun and longer days will be available this Sunday evening. These designs are themed around new growth and warm toned gems that remind me of warm sun glow. I will also have a short run of my smaller rose sabdariffa bud rings available in a few sizes as well.

Flora and Sylva
Parallel Botany by Leo Lionni, translated from Italian by Patrick Creagh, was published in this first American edition by Knopf in 1977. Lionni is primarily known for his children’s books, but Parallel Botany is one of his few books for an adult audience. Parallel Botany is a field guide to imaginary plants, which Lionni presents with the authority of an scholarly textbook filled with references to things in the actual world, giving it an aura of believability. It has been compared to other literary flights of fabricated fancy, such as Luigi Serafini’s The Codex Seraphinianus (1981) and Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities (1972).
Lionni describes the Tirillus silvador of the high Andes which emits a shrill whistle on clear nights in January and February. There are the Woodland Tweezers that live in the shade of Manengo trees in the jungles of Indonesia, the growth pattern of which the Japanese parallel botanist Uchigaki noticed bares an unsettling resemblance to a winning layout in a game of Go. And of course there’s the Artesia whose various forms anticipate the work of such artists as Jean Arp and Alexander Calder, and, some believe, the work of all artists, including those yet to be born. In this age of alternative facts, Parallel Botany may have greater relevance today than it did when it was originally published. To paraphrase Borges, in order for something to be true, it simply has to exist.
This book exists, so we believe it is true.
