There was so much she didnât know how to explain to James. That her parents, while they had devoted themselves entirely to loving their children, didnât even remotely like each other. That her mother married her father because all her friends were getting married and that her father married her mother because he was a WWII veteran looking for some sort of life after war. Hell, even age wise, they werenât a match â her mother was 16 years younger than her father. They had not been affectionate towards each other.Â
Then of course, she was dealing with her own feelings of what a relationship was, based on experiences that tainted her, that she was sure James would look down on her for. Sheâd never been with anyone like James â had never been with a decent bloke before him.Â
âIâm just â I like being with you, and snogging you, and whatnot. I just â I donât know. I just want us to â I donât know â Iâm new to this, James. Youâll have to bare with me.âÂ
James looked at Lily and shook his head kissing the top of her head, âYou are doing just fine, I donât have to âbare with youâ, everyone is different, everyone likes different things.â he smiled at her leaving his book on the table just besides the sofa.Â
He knew people not liking to be touched, or to be said certain things. Remus wasnât exactly trusting after the full moon but they all figured how to be mates and not want to kill each other for be too close and on top of the other, even if it was just in a playful way.
âLook, we are new to this, we are both new to this relationship. Doesnât matter how many people you were with before; even if I want to hex them all;â he joked, âbut what do you like me doing, like this.â he squeezed her hand, âDo you like us holding hands in public?â he asked with a smile resting her head on top of hers, âOr me just snuggling up on your down time.â he chuckled, âI want to know how we are comfortable with each other, and if that means not snogging in the Common Room, then... weâll have to spend our free time elsewhere because Iâm snogging you, Evans.â
