I went out with my friends, @wackemfishing and @kato.rckmystc, both @california.surf.anglers members, and this happened. I caught a 27 inch Spotfin Croaker. Apparently the record catch for this fish is 27 inches weighing 10.5 pounds. I guess I can say I caught a record class fish. I didn’t even know the record at the time, but this photo with my black dot friend was worth every second of the 20 min fight we had. As you can see I ended up with the trophy this time. In the end we both were winners. We both made it home alive and with new friends. Thanks to the fellas for the help and guidance, oh and the invite. This is @dearchels. I went to visit her at the shop she works at these days, @oldtownetattooparlor A few days ago. In 2006 she came to work with me at the tattoo shop as a helper, someone that cleans, runs errands and answers the phone. At first she had no interest in learning how to tattoo. After a year of working for me, she came to me asked if I would teach her how to tattoo. Of course I said yes. She had been very dedicated to her work and showed great resolve when it came to dealing with the tortuous life of the tattoo shop. She worked very hard, she drew and painted everyday, quickly finding her groove and learning what she wanted and did not want to paint and draw. With a lot of practice and patience, oh and absorbing tons of harsh criticism for 6 years, she, like coal under pressure, turned into a sparkling diamond of an artist. As it turns out, the student has become the teacher. While visiting her, she educated me in some of the new tools and technology that younger whipper snapper tattooers are using now. More importantly, it was good to see her in person and to see her excelling and crushing the game with her amazing tattoos.
