could you not tell that i was turning your logic against you or are you just that dense lmaoÂ
also are you joking about their art or criticizing it? cuz youre going back and forth. you say youre criticizing their art, but then youre joking about their art? maybe you should decide on what youre doing first before you make a blog like this. just a thoughtÂ
again, youre not criticizing their art. youre making fun of it. let me just quote a few of your posts here:
âThese are scarier than the actual game.â
âAh, edgy Pokemon. A true classic.â
âThose are the scariest mouths Iâve seen all day.â
none of those are helpful criticism. its just a more eloquent way of saying âit sucks. your art sucks.â yeah, comments like this are to be expected when you draw, but enough of it or if its done in a really mean-spirited wayâlike with what youre doing right now, reposting without permissionâwill actually hurt and discourage a budding artist. it wont help the artist get better either since you arent pointing out the specifics of what needs to be improved and how it can be doneÂ
do you even know what good criticism is? ill go quote some of the things people told me when i asked for criticism on a painting of mineÂ
âThereâs too much contrast between warmth and coolness. Try to stick to one âtemperatureâ I guess lolâ
âThe shadows are too messy and dark. They arenât well blended into the rest of the painting.â
âIt took me some time to realize what you were drawing⌠You could make the shapes more discernible.âÂ
lets compare. the criticisms you gave are insults and jokes. they dont say how to improve. its not constructive in any way. theyre not good or helpful. the criticisms i received point out specific issues in my painting and 2 suggest how to improve
also not going to lie but going off the way youve spoken about some of your own old art really demonstrates that you cant give good criticism anyways. how the fuck are you running a criticism blog if you cant point out the specifics in how you yourself have made mistakes in old art
lets take âI donât think thatâs how skirts work.â HOW are they supposed to work. what is specifically wrong with that skirt. oh, i knowâthe knife pleats arent straight enough and the bottom is curved too much. besides the skirt the left elbow is too large and the bust is uneven, particularly on the left. the tie(?) is comically large and doesnt go down to the right length and isnt even identifiableâso sharpen your lines and erase softness there. you didnt know how to connect the torso and the arms so those seem misplaced. the buttons on the shirt arent in line. the shirt seems like its glued onâwhere are the wrinkles? the eyes are too far apart and seem dead/lifeless and the right eye is too heavily outlined compared to the left. the fingers are too fat compared to the body. the whole drawing itself is flat and you didnt convey depth at all. you were inconsistent with a pencil coloring
did you read that paragraph? its a good example for how you can be a better critic and i didnt even mention permission. do i need permission to criticize your personality and behavior cuz you have a lot of room for improvement. perhaps you could try to understand social etiquette? many people do appreciate to know when others are talking about them, for one. you only consider real feelings instead of just potential feelings and that is a really reckless and impolite thing for you to do. you cant even put yourself in shoes you were once inâa beginning artistâand while i understand the difficulty as someone with low/no empathy, you dont even bother to think about it. not to mention, you havent considered if theres a better way to criticizeâyou seem to have immediately jumped for reposting and jokes. youre being dense and you dont listen to when others criticize you, only jump around and try to avoid any self improvementâand i can promise you that this kind of behavior extends to all sorts of improvement including art improvement. overall, im trying to say you need to think more about others feelings and how they could potentially feel/react to things, and you need to consider other possibilities and be open to deep, meaningful criticism yourselfÂ
