No Regrets
It's not about whether you spend your life in a boardroom, your bedroom or on a beach with a mail tai in maui.Β When you look back on your life the only thing that matters is, did you spend it doing what you loved?Β With the people you love?Β Were you happy?Β Did you make the most of this beautiful terrifying messed up life?Β Β Did you let go of all the things that held you back; so you can hold on to what matters most!
That long?
19 months post op! Shit, I'm shite at this lark.
Waited on . . .
Day 5 post op. Managing fine on crutches but still haven't heard from physio. Ordered John's birthday card today and I have his pressie courtesy of Stephanie. Keeping up with my exercises although the area where the micro fracture was carried out is still pretty tender; sleeping well though and down to 4 paracetamol a day. Had a wee visit out in the car to visit John's mum; nice to have a change of scenery.

Post op
Today is 2 days post op. Took the bandage off last night as it kept slipping down anyway. The microsurgery has left me in more pain than I thought I would be but managing to get around on the crutches which I need to use for the next 2 weeks.
Been doing my exercises, although Iβm not good at keeping them up but I really need to keep at it this time. My OH had been great although is off to take part in the Spartan beast tomorrow in Edinburgh so will be left to my own devices tomorrow. At least I can get up and down and get to the loo!
Should hear about impending closure of work next week too and redundancies. The complication of the op is going to put back my rehab a bit so wonβt be able to start applying for jobs right away.
ATISHOOOO
I have the cold!
The reckoning
Well today's the day! Wee visit to the docs to find out if BP is still sky high, how bad my blood are and if my heart is behaving itself. Pretty daunting! Hope they still let me fly on Sunday
It's a new dawn it's a new day
Covered about 4 miles yesterday altogether but back at work and to reality today. But organised and ready to go. Breakfast provided at work so will have some porage, fruit and natural yogurt mid morning (canβt eat first thing apart from maybe a banana and some coffee) and have a king prawn salad for lunch.
Taking off early for a hospital appointment but Iβve got an appraisal to start before then! Wish me luck

How long . . . has this been going on
I've been here before. Last time it was a lump in my breast. Now it's chest pain and high BP LET'S DO THIS!
A little piece of paradise
For the first time in my life on holiday I got up and decided at 3 pm in the afternoon that I'd had enough sun for one day. We took ourselves off to Mama's Kitchen and indulged ourselves with poached apples and Greek yogurt and iced coffee floats. Just sitting here watching the world go by. Wouldn't have it any other way. skiathos
Bugbear
I love to eat. Over the last few weeks I have been eating lower carbs and when I do eat them they're good carbs not refined. This on turn has kept me fuller for longer but (and apologies to any male readers) although in full menopause I still get uncontrollable cravings at certain times of the month and this week had been one of those times. I cannot pass the kitchen without sticking my hand in the biscuit barrel and if I don't stop soon, that's what I'll be, a barrel!
NOW OR NEVER
Today it has to be now or never. My weight is slowly creeping up and creeping me out. So it starts today. Weight done, measurements done, crap out

Every Friday at this time I sit down to complete my Click & Collect order at Tesco.com. Every Friday at this time my mind goes completely blank! My husband was diagnosed with age onset diabetes at 50, he will be 58 this year. Last year was a bit of a non starter for us both. He had his meds changed again. While I was losing weight, he ate what I ate and our diets and lifestyle changed dramatically. Suddenly he began having 'hypos' which meant both the medication and his diet were both lowering his blood sugar so his medication was stopped. However diabetes is a progressive disease and it doesn't matter how well you follow doctor's orders and at the end of 2012 (just about the same time as my cyst appeared) his meds were changed and not for the better. Coincidentally at the same time his continental work pattern changed from 6 8 hour shift to 4 12 hour shifts with sometimes only 2 rest days in between and rest day working introduced which he has never had to do in his life. This man who worked out at the gym 3 times a week, who walked daily, attended 'insanity' classes with me, lost his appetite for life. He wanted to eat but whenever food was put in front of him he couldn't face it, he stopped going to the gym and classes and was tired all the time. At his last diabetic check up 6 months ago his GP took the decision to put him onto a more expensive medication but also had to reinstate the meds which he had been taken off 18 months previously. However this seemed to make all the difference, that and the huge changes we made to our diet at this time. We cut out ALL processed foods, ate chicken, fish, beef, grilled, baked or casseroled using only fresh ingredients. We eat more fruit and veg and he is allowed a treat like his weekly Bournville and a couple of bottles of real ale. The biggest change was in his fitness - he became a Crossfitter! Our eldest son bought him a month's trial for his Christmas and he was hooked. He's put on half a stone but is leaner and fitter than he's ever been. So this is about me and him getting our lives back on track.
Double eggs for breakfast. Decaff latte thanks to the anxiety which kicked in while suffering from withdrawal. Resting heartrate 84, better but could be lower.
