Anyway that’s my interpretation, and I think that’s what they’ve meant by promoting this as a story that’s more grey and morally ambiguous. It’s not really about arguing who’s more “wrong” or “right.” That ideology perpetuates the war.

Rather, how do we heal the wounds that Ben, Rey, and the galaxy are facing without destroying something, without hurting something in its place.

To me it was pretty clear she was completely “good”. Think of after her and Kylo defeat the praetorian guards, for example:

She runs up to the window like a puppy and begs Kylo to call off the attack with the most innocent face I’ve ever seen. This is my favourite moment of Rey in TLJ honestly because Daisy does this so well. She’s pure and naive and it shows who Rey is perfectly. She believes the good in everyone, is very trusting, and instinctively goes for what’s right. And when she realizes Kylo isn’t fully on her side yet, that face of disappointment tells it all.

So far there is no indication that Rey would sway from this, so until I see episode 9 do something batshit crazy to change this innocent muffin, she’s staying this way.

It doesn’t come with a moral compass attached to it.

And both the Jedi and the Sith were wrong to believe that in order to use the Force you either need to repress your feelings or be controled by them.

So, when I say Grey or Prime Jedi, I envision a new philosophy where both Rey and Kylo can be ‘themselves,’ rather than having to conform to societal expectations of what a Jedi should be.

YES, even the scene at the end where he stares up to her with his puppy dog eyes and she hesitates, but shuts the door on him. This is NOT indicative of their relationship being over for good. It’s a sign that both of them are aware, it was the wrong place and wrong time. They both need to heal and approach it differently, and hopefully they can make it work together.

Rey symbolizes the light, while Kylo, the dark (for now until someone else steps in it they go the route we are all hoping for). She is good and there’s not one point in the movie that indicates otherwise. Being curious and passionate does not make you not entirely good. Rey went to the dark side, but didn’t find what she was looking for, and I got the impression she didn’t like it either.

There’s literally a scene where she succumbs to the dark in an effort to learn the identity of her parents. Someone literally put the gif of that scene in this thread. The quote is there too. Are you just ignoring it or???

Morals, the whole concepts of good and evil - these are entirely subjective things. They aren’t permutations of nature - as the Force very clearly is.

To be Grey doesn’t mean that you don’t need a moral compass, or that you shouldn’t care/try to be a good person. It means to realise that the Force has nothing whatsoever to do with that shit. It’s beyond and above all societal and personal issues, the only thing that matters is balance. The Light Side of the Force isn’t bound by man-made philosophies or morals, to split it into a “Light Side” and a “Dark Side” is about as sensible as only following the Warm Side of water and calling the Cold Side evil.
