the thing is that mclaren in nine races had three 1-2 finishes and seven double podium finishes. in the same time span (seven races) mercedes had two 1-2 finishes and those were their only two double podium finishes too. with one of their two drivers being compromised in one way or another SIX out of seven races. you could make a few think pieces regarding the matter but the short and sweet conclusion is that mercedes is not ready to be a top team again and they need to have a good look inwards
