nobody ever got much of anything done on the actual sexyman wiki side, they mostly just sat around purity-policing eachother, tepidly suggesting new wiki additions in palpable fear of being nuked for possibly accidentally suggesting something the owner deemed Immoral, having weirdass sin confession sessions where they all ritualistically outed themselves for their past problematic(tm) fandom-ing, saying cringe is dead, and then talking about how vile everyone outside on the rest of the internet/all external fan-spaces is. they seemed far more interested in trying to find the next cancellable Freak of the hour and making ironic-but-not-really jokes about the hotness of the onceler than in actually running the damn wiki or getting anything updated. the only time anything on the wiki ever really seemed to get done was when someone went rogue and just started fleshing out things themselves (there was supposed to be some system i don't recall the specifics of where you had to pitch an idea and get an arbitrary number of votes from official important team members or whatever, but in practice none of them bothered ever actually weighing in on anything and so that just never got done, and even when something was nebulously approved by the general consensus for addition almost nobody ever actually got around to doing it. the suggestions system, whatever it was, was so dysfunctional that after they moved it off the discord and onto the actual proper wiki's discussion(?) page it eventually just devolved into people suggesting any random obscure character they personally found attractive anyway), which would invariably be neutered by the moderators in the next edit because we can't have literally any references to people's attraction or fanfiction referencing such in a sexyman wiki, because "the children might see it". i also just- and i don't have any specific memories to back this up-but i just have this vague recollection of having somehow gotten like a... vaguely, almost terfy vibe to the place. i don't remember why. again, i don't have any specific memory i can point to for that. i think there was a huge schism at some point during the couple of days i was there where a huge number of the server and team members were kicked out for Fandom Drama Reasons I Don't Remember and it had major toxic friend group breakup over callout post type energy, which is appropriate because i'm pretty sure all the main staff were the creator's friends.

the original creator of the wiki also had a hyperfixation sideblog (long since deleted now) where they would constantly talk about the onceler, tumblr sexymen, the wiki, and answer asks, namely to rant about how they think everyone who ships wrong or writes the wrong kind of fanfic should actually literally graphically die. i remember one specific ask in particular, where the asker said something like "so you're saying if you see a kid playing with dolls in a way you don't like they should be killed??" and their response was basically almost exactly "literally yes". and in context it was very clear they were not being sarcastic about it. they also had a drawing of evil alternate universe sharp-toothed emo badboy pleakley lilostitch, which is the only other specific thing i remember off the top of my head.

they also had (and from a quick look evidently still have) an issue where they could never manage to establish in practice a consistent definition for a lot of tropes ("duality" is the big one-what the fuck even is it's description on the tropes page? almost none of the character pages use it that way exclusively, in practice everyone just kind of slapped it on whenever a character had a split color scheme or thematic connection to someone with an opposite-seeming personality or something. and the name of the trope itself is too vague to not be a bad name if precisely that and nothing else is what they were going for. they should have just called it "opposite alter ego" or something.) and so every single page ended up defining and using them in completely different ways. which nobody ever did anything about, for the same reason that no one could ever be bothered to update any pages even when Fully Officially Approved to do so in general. and of course, it was all but basically unspoken mandate that writing a page in an actually neutral documenting tone would get you creepjacketed and sent to the pyre for not Implying Hatred For The Problematic Elements enough, so you had to walk a thin line of sounding the exact right kind of silly, Opinionated, and high school mean girls whisper-spreadingly judgemental. basically you had to write everything in art community drama youtube video essay voice or you'd get accused of sexual deviancy.

the whole thing ultimately from conception was little more than a vehicle for the creator and their friends to bitch about Gross Creepy Freaks Writing Sex Lmao They Should All Die together with a thin veneer of legitimacy obtained by building a frail vestigial skeleton shell of a wiki around it that no one bothered keeping up to date on any consistent basis, and like i said, unless people took matters into their own hands nothing real ever seemingly got done. looking at some of the pages i worked on back in the day, it looks like they still haven't bothered to update their trope lists even though the actual index of tropes they have (many of which are relevant) has grown substantially. not overly surprising. i'm more surprised to learn the wiki still even exists in general. the creator started deleting and privating things after their onceler hyperfixation went to a farm upstate (which was around the time their onceler-sexymanphenomenon-ranting about killing people sideblog vanished), so i kind of assumed they probably would have done something similar to the wiki by now.
