“that’s good, you’re already pretty great.” she states with a smile, leaning against one of her hands, she glances over towards him. “more focus on life?” she rises a brow, “like what?” kalani was curious, her smile still warm expressing interest. “just wanted to ensure you that i’m here for you if you ever need. i’m glad you trust me though.” 

Jaden found it difficult to take everything seriously. He needed to add a little humour and amusement every now and again to humble himself. “You would know,” he answered back with a wink, playfully sticking his tongue out at Cloe as the words escaped his mouth. “What flavour would you want to be?” He asked, flipping the question back on her.

Jaden watched as the femme jumped up and took hold of her dainty hands as he followed her, going wherever she wanted to go. He had never better to do with his time. He liked hanging out with Cloe. “I think I would be cookie dough and cream,” he answered as a smirk spread across his lips. “Why? Because it tastes good, like me.” He winked. Messing around with the girl he was hanging out with.

a warm smile spread across her lips as she nodded her head, “you trying the whole new year new me type of thing?” she teased while glancing over towards him. “if anything was seriously wrong though, you know you could talk to me about it, right?” 

kalani glances over towards him with a gasp, while shaking her head. “keeping to yourself?” she rises a brow, “very unlike you… are you feeling okay? feeling sick?” she questions in a more serious tone. “or is there something really going on?” 

laughter erupts from her as he sticks his tongue out at her, resembling a child and it just reminds her how easy it was to be friends with him, how fun and great of a person he was. kalani scrunches up her nose, she was never one for violence, even if she was in an uncomfortable situation she always tried to kill everyone with kindness. “i know i’m lovely, but no need to fight over me.” she jokes, while glancing over towards him. “any new updates on you that i should know about other than you having a date?” 

Jaden liked to think he could be a gentleman sometimes. He didn’t want her shoes getting dirty on where everyone else had changed their shoes over.  He did two knots in the shoe, before taking her other leg and doing the exact same thing. “There we go,” he answered with a smirk. Jaden got to his feet, and put his hand out towards Cloe.

it was nice that the two had came to an agreement that they were strictly friends, which flirty banter, nothing serious, just all fun. he was willing to do more of the daring things and get her out of her shell when she was too scared to do something. rolling her eyes in a playful manner, kalani shoves him in the chest lightly as she laughs. “oh, shut up,” she says in a joking tone while scrunching up her nose. “i don’t need him punching you in the face or being mad at me.” 

Jaden untied his skates and placed them off to the side, waiting until Cloe’s were off. He made sure both of them got their shoes brought back and placed his own on - before grabbing Cloe’s leg, putting it on his knee to help her get hers back on so she didn’t have to constantly touch thing different. “One knot or two?” He asked. 

Jaden watched as she blew on his hand to try and warm them up and chuckled. “All better,” he joked, knowing it wouldn’t totally warm his hand up but found it sweet at the very least. The brunette looked at the section where people could change their shoes. He sat on the floor to get his skates off, allowing Cloe to take the singular seat that was still there.

“guess you just have to keep imagining it, manifesting works you know.” her tone teasing, as rounds of giggles fell from her lips from the look he was giving her. despite, kalani drunkly kissing him, she felt that they were better off as friends. he was that one person that she needed in her life when she was going through her down spiral and would be forever grateful of his presence in her life. “i know, you sir, have a heart of gold.” she tells him, patting his chest slightly with that warm smile. 

Arthur snickers dryly, the sound void of humour. Pretending each other didn’t exist had been their mutual M.O. ever since the friendship had been decimated by the most cliche of sins. This confrontation had been both inevitable and a long time coming. “Maybe I’m here to ruin everyone’s night, then. I don’t know half these people anyway, the fuck should I care who gets upset about my complaining?” He crosses his arms. “Not like they can kick me out for talking smack on fireworks.”

Jaden slowed down on the ice as Cloe suggested for the two of them to get a hot chocolate. “I think that's a good idea. My hands are fucking freezing,” he chuckled. Jaden hadn’t fallen, by being by an ice-skating rink always made him feel cold everywhere. Jaden gently glided them towards the exit and held Cloe’s hand, intertwining his fingers with her own. “What you having? It’s on me.”

his words causes her to laugh as she glances over towards him with a shrug of her shoulders, “who knows i could’ve been your secret lover all along.” she teases back wondering what it would be like when the two actually met. however, kalani was extremely content, the happiest she ever been.  “you better or else i’ll be heartbroken and betrayed.” although, she didn’t reflect it, she had a fear that one day she would lose cier, that someone better would come along and swoop him right up. 

“I think it’s important as well. I’ve found it difficult to bottle up about my past. I appreciate you not running away from me when I explained how complicated it all was,” he scoffed. Jaden took hold of Cloe’s hand and gently pulled her along the ice with him. He could see that her confidence had grew as she glided around with him. “I’m not going to rush you into saying anything. I just want you to know that I’m and I’m on your side if you ever do need someone.”

“his name is cieran,” kalani responds, she really couldn’t help the smile that naturally appears across her lips when speaking about the other – it’s always been that way, well most times it had been. at his question, she nods her head with a fond smile. “i do! she’s really great,” she commented, although she did say that about most people, it was true. “i’m sure that it went well,” she reassures, placing a hand upon his shoulder giving him a squeeze. a small laughter fell from her lips as she playfully gives him a look. “don’t go stealing my boyfriend now.”
