Materials: park bench, piñata we made by hand with recycled cardboard boxes and crepe paper, table cloth, party hats & banner, candy with climate change messages printed and glued on, printed out footprints, rope to hang piñata & stick to hit it with
Turn Out: We arrived at 2, set up pretty quickly, and just waited for the public interaction, but hardly received any. People and kids would look down and be intrigued by the footprints leading to the piñata, but ultimately never come up to do so. To have someone from the outside actually engage with our project, we asked a mom at the playground if they could hit the piñata for our project, and then came the people at the end of the video. The video at the beginning shows clips of people passing by but never glancing or engaging with the piñata, which ultimately shows that even though they didn't hit the piñata/world, ignorance is a dangerous factor as well. Towards the end, the older kids aggressively hit the piñata, and once the piñata was on the ground, he continued to beat it, and then the three people fought for the candy, which symbolizes the people's greed for the world, the use of fossil fuels, wanting to drill in Anatolia for oil, etc.
