rcinaâ:
This is the definition of self-sabotage, Reina knows that. Theyâve been generally okay for a few weeks â not remotely back to normal, but then normal for them is simply just living without wanting to rip each other apart. And itâs been good, Reina can see things between them building back to where theyâre supposed to be. So of course she has to ruin it, of course she has to go and lash out because she canât stand the thought of Jackson seeing her in a weak spot like she is right now. Of course she has to turn things back around on him, accuse him of cheating on her again with no evidence to support that claim. Itâs who she is, unable to deal with her feelings in a healthy manner, so sheâll do anything to keep them away. As soon as the fuck you aimed at her leaves his lips, sheâs ready to start berating him again, but his rant gives her pause.
Itâs not by any means what she wants to hear, and calling her psychotic certainly doesnât win him any fucking brownie points, but what gets her is Jackâs very valid reminder that theyâre supposed to be treating each other better. Her arms move from her hips to cross over her chest, and itâs obvious heâs got her thinking but she wonât back down just like that. âWell, can you really fucking blame me? You havenât touched me like that in months.â Because thatâs what she wanted, although Reina chooses to ignore that for her own sake. âNot even since we had that conversation. What else am I supposed to think?â That heâs trying to be better like you want him to, not cheating on you, a little voice in her head supplies, but Reina is not that easily sated.
He should have known better than to try and help Reina when she seemed down. But at the same time he wonât take the blame for Reina being unable to accept an offer of comfort. That was her problem .Unfortunately, it was turning into a him problem as well when she decided to take that inability and turn it into accusations of infidelity. Jackson had been just starting to let himself ease into things a little more, but with these words he was on the defense once more. The only consolation was that at least he knew Iris couldnât come down and see them like this, as she was still at maâs house. Heâs surprised his words arenât interrupted by her, though, and he doesnât know whether sheâs simply been shocked into silence or sheâs gearing up for a rebuttal.Â
But to his surprise, she doesnât come back with as angry or words, and once again heâs left reeling by Reinaâs mood swings. âYes, I can blame you,â he says with annoyance still in his voice, though heâs not sure what to make of the second part of her sentence. It was true, they hadnât done anything since the night of the auction, and that had been more a form of hate sex than anything else. âYou think I could have touched you without losing a hand?â he accused with a raised eyebrow. Not to mention it was a little difficult to want someone when you were wondering who else have been touching them. âThis isnât going to work if we just regress every month, Reina,â is what he finally comes up with. âIâm not interested in trying to rebuild shit from scratch every time something isnât vaguely perfect.â
