more yap: I write literary fiction and one of the pieces I'm working on is about a priest in the early 1970s who falls in love with a girl whose parents think she is possessed but she's actually just weird and likes the ars goetia drawings she found at the library. So incredibly different from your universe but I know my "possessed" character would love your characters if she somehow wandered on tumblr when she's seventy.

When she came back to the UK she decided to herself that she wouldn't be a reclusive loser anymore, and actually managed to insert herself into a group of "popular" girls (in reality they were just very mean). Gained a boyfriend who was older than her at 17, Evan, and she could never really shake him off, despite the fact they didn't have sex till she was 20. She never could figure out if he cheated on her during her "frigid era". She of course also couldn't shake off her paraphilia, and despite her mean girl ways kept the secret that belied her lack of security in herself. Her proclivities made her feel both ashamed of herself, but also made her feel like she's she's special and different, in a way. Her fascination with ultra violence had lead her to develop a photography and film making hobby, with her focus being on violent car accidents she scouted out. Even at twenty she hadn't got off the seedy gore and necro forums, and this is where she posted her videos and photos, and of course met Beef, who was a moderator...

Beef being born a sort of zombie and getting put into the necromancer custody, grew up incredibly dehumanized and isolated. The first few years of his life the necromancer bureaucrats were busy determining if he had a right to live, and when they decided he did they spent the rest of time picking and choosing which human rights he deserved to have. He had contributed to so much research to them, and though he did have advocates that tried to make sure he was treated humanely, and was allowed to make friends with necromancer kids, he knew deep down that in the eyes of others, he was more of a thing then a person.
