“It’s actually kind of nice. I like being not-dead,” Kai pointed out, perking up a touch as his head cocked to the side just a touch. “But, my multiple not-deaths kind of pale in comparison - I know a guy who’s died, like, six times. He says it sucks, but I think that’s because he’s secretly sad inside, and he hasn’t been able to eat enough cheese fries to fill that hole. What about you? Is being back a good thing for you?”

“Yeah, well, I was very much dead, and now I’m not, so excuse me for not being surprised when I see another not-dead-guy walking around,” Kai hummed, a faintly dismissive sound soon escaping his throat before he added a brief, “But then again, I’ve been very much dead before and I’ve come back before, so I don’t think I should really be surprised by any of this, it’s just that usually when I come back from the dead, it’s not nearly as… pleasant.” Okay, rambling Kai - it’s time to shut up now. Or not. “Not that the whole disorientation thing is pleasant, just that the last time I came back, I couldn’t taste anything and I kept sort of almost dying again.”

“You’re not the first to come back,” Winter relents, her gaze almost assessing as her head cocks to the side. “More and more people seem to be coming back these days, but no one can figure out why. But I’ve never actually seen one-” She took a small step forward, one of her hands outstretching slightly towards him, an open expression on her face. “Do you… mind? I promise I won’t hurt you. I just want to see if I can… feel anything.”

kitty had just blinked when she’d heard someone talk about being back from the dead. that wasn’t possible, was it? did that mean that magic actually existed in other people? logically she knew she couldn’t be the only one with magic in the world but it had been hard to feel like she was a part of something like that when she’d been on her own for more than half her life. she tilted her head, trying to listen to the conversation and figure things out.

Hearing someone else besides the person he was speaking to he turned towards her. “You spyin’ on me?” He wasn’t used to so many people being here, how it was so easy to overhear things that should be kept private.
