because you can’t win if you don’t play, i’ve made some gift card funds to help me get some much-needed supplies 🛒
most critical: i’ve been struggling worse the last couple months with managing showers/wash hair/wash face, especially, and using the wipes i already have on face and body feels Bad. so i have a list of stuff to try that will hopefully meet my needs as far as ingredients, reactive skin, particular hair, & functional capacity go (itemized list below cut).
i haven’t heard anything more about the status of my disability case, but that’s not entirely surprising, as the hearing scheduling was at least 8 months out when I appealed in the spring. the horrors persist, but so do i.
i know i’m not alone in the things are bad & getting worse” department, so if you can’t manage donating, that’s ok 🩵 no pressure, no worries, whatever happens is ok!
because i am at least somewhat a foolish optimist 🤪 i also made funds for home improvement (shower desperately needs recaulking, photos below cut), trying out a different (cheaper) compression gear combo before i ask for it for xmas, groceries, and pharmacy. not out of meds yet, but 🤷🏻 probably better to ask before emergency, in case anyone has a vested interest in my dopamine maintenance or tachycardia/fatigue.
🩵 thank you for sharing and contributing 🩵pretty sure you can hide your actual name while putting a note in the note box, so feel free to leave your handle there & i’ll send you a thank-you here! (it should also be possible for you to earmark for a specific item, if you’re superbly interested in, say, caulk 😉)
if i know you & you’d rather buy the stuff, send me a message - thinking about making a stuff list for irl people (vs just the gift card funds). i can’t hide my name/info on a list of stuff (unlike a gift card fund…i think 😅) so i’d rather not put that out there for just anybody.
deets below da cut:
easy & safe hygiene fund will go toward pkg of de-funkifying wipes $9, bath/shower stool $26, manual toothbrush pack to keep one by my bed $9/3 (the 2pk is $8 😒), hair & scalp refresher spray $10, micellar shampoo that review say rinses easy $13, mustela micellar water to clean face (& maybe also other areas) when wash out of question, $16, silicone cup w/handle for rinsing hair (won’t break if drop, easier to hold than empty yoghurt tub) $10, no-slip tub mat bc i’ve skidded a few times/existing grip dots old $17. might try out a $9 sunscreen stick if there are leftovers, don’t currently use any 🫣 due to irritation—if anyone wants to bet on the losing dog called me not developing a Problem
home improvement fund for decent caulk gun $13, almond/biscuit caulk to match $12, tools $7, cleaning (vin/baking soda, bottle, goggles, etc) the rest. in case you were curious, this is the current problem:
there are other spots; these are just the ones i had the spoons to get to. pls don’t tell me it’s/how bad. I KNOW. which is why i’m asking for help
compression gear fund: reassessing the socks/leggings combo i’ve done for 5+ yrs due to cost, full hose too hard for me to put on due to hand hypermobility/joint pain/all-over fatigue, maybe try thigh-high/compression shorts combo. 20-30mmHg hose $25-30 (need to measure size), shorts will be $15-30 depending on brand
grocery fund: almost out of 1L olive & 750mL avocado oils, $15/ea (lasts several months, use daily when making rice for dinner, better for my cholesterol), out of bfast/fixins (30 pk granola bars ~$12), running low on dinner fixins $30-40/mo, have $5 off $25 grocery order coupon, also need can opener, wouldn’t be mad at splurging for some easy meal-replacement shakes/protein powder bc food situation/my capacity has been Not Great the past week or so & sliced turkey and some tortilla chips is not a balanced dinner
um maybe $6 somewhere for ballpoint dr grip refills $3 and 4-pk post it $3
meds fund: day meds $33/30 or $85/90; mestinon $23/30; coreg & singulair, $10 & $18/90ea. coreg out end of august; the rest up in september

Okay, as a service dog user with a very similar flavor of autism to Shane, I think Shane would HATE having a service dog. He would miserable. People would be Looking At Him and Making Comments About His Dog. People would be Asking Him Questions and wanting to tell him about how their dog died while he is Having A Moment in a public place and just wants to run away. He’d have to stop small children from running up to his dog. The upkeep with training and entertaining a dog intelligent enough to be a service dog would drive him nuts.
Ilya though? Ilya would LIVE for it. I could 100% see him being forced to retire early hockey and immediately signing up to be a puppy-raiser for service dog organization. He would be the organization’s poster boy. He would get hockey teams to sponsor dog so the cost of their care during puppyhood is covered. His and Shane’s house would be a revolving door of cute and squishy Labrador puppies. He would adore getting down on the floor and explaining to small children why there is dog wearing special jacket in the grocery store. He would SOB HYSTERICALLY every time he turned a dog in for advanced training and dramatically tell Shane he will never ever recover from this heartbreak. Then he’d bring home a new foster pup a few weeks later and he’d be in love all over again. He would get periodic postcard updates from his pups in advanced training and insist they need to go on the fridge. (“These are our CHILDREN, Shane, and they are sending us letters from college. Are you not proud?”) Every single person who enters the house must look at the postcards. (He probably makes copies so David can have them on his desk at work.)
Shane would have to make a rule they can’t adopt all the foster pups who flunk out of service dog school. (The failure rate is 50-80% depending on the type of service work so there would be many.) Except, of course, for that Very Special Dog (every puppy-raiser has one) who he pretends he doesn’t like, but he 100% cried the day they left for advanced training.
Dog tax:
My old lady, Whimsey, who was my Very Special Dog.
WHIMSEY!!! I'M LOVE HER!!!!
i also love ilya and his hoard of puppy-children going off to college lol.
