Jack held his staff tight and looked at Queen with a puffed out chest. His gaze was steely. “Are you really pulling the fear me card?”

“It was agony,” Jack said, stroking her hair gently. “But one day I want to break you from him too.”

Jack nodded. “You have no idea how much I’ve missed you, Jade. I’m sorry I left.”

Jack kissed the top of her head. “Well, you don’t have to give stuff back to them, you know?”

Jack rested his chin on her head, closing his eyes. “Are you ok?”

“You did?” Jack asked, smiling at her as he hugged her close. “I’m sorry I couldn’t come. I wasn’t ready.”

Jack chuckled behind his hand. “Surprise! Did you miss me?”
