I understand how you get the loop and the line, but, how do you get the spiral?
Or is this all suppose to just be taken metaphorically?
OOC because i cannot be bothered to figure out how to make this work in char, i need to yap This is something ive actually been thinking about semi recently, and i believe the entirety of the weaver dialogue, all 4 entries, are depicting the path from the birth of a creature to their ascension. Its not a perfect theory, but i think it has a good amount of backing evidence. The idea started when i was going back over vanilla pearls and saw this reading from moon:
Most notably, the third paragraph, where moon mentions "[...] connected to eachother like a ring, or some say a spiral. some say a spiral that in turn forms a ring." The specific use of wording here i think absolutely ties in to what the weaver is talking about, or vice versa. The subject matter is then clearly about reincarnation, or related to it. This brings me to my propsal that the weaver is telling the watcher about the cycle of an individual creature within the grand cycle, the path from birth to life to ascension. Beginning with the first dialogue;
Which i feel very evidently talks about the birth of a creature. "A droplet of rain" refers to the creature themselves, the very first "thread" being created. "A ripple, A ring, ever expanding" i read as a symbolic way of talking about the impact this has on the cycle as a whole, and makes more sense with the context of the third dialogue which i will mention in a second. Regardless, the second dialogue follows with:
This is where the connection is apparent. A ring, a spiral. I believe its possible the eyes being referred to are actually those of Daemon, as a Daemon is a creature responsible for overseeing the cycle of an organism. "Movement along the circumference of a ring.", referring to the general progression of a Daemons cycle, nothing fancy. "From one eye a loop", again, a comment on the nature of the cycle. From one perspective, the cycle is just that, a never ending loop of a creature being killed and waking up in a new thread. "From one eye a spiral", i am less certain about this one, but i take it as a comment about how the cycle isnt a true loop. While the creature technically wakes up after every death, the cycle is not a complete loop, as there is now one more thread where the creature died from the perspective of its killer. This would be seen as an outwards expanding spiral, an almost loop growing in scale exponentially as the creature dies and is reborn. "From one eye the motion of a line" is discussing the great cycle, of ascension, how every organism is on a slow march from their birth to their ascension, most evident with the rise and fall of benefactor-esque civilizations. The line marks a progression towards the true crossing out of a creature, and the end of their cycle. Now, on to the third dialogue;
Which abandons the points of dialogue 2, and resumes what was being discussed in dialogue 1. Here the threads are being discussed. "A second drop. A thousandth." represents again how every death is a new thread in the cycle, a "Multiplex of rings, spirals, interacting in countless ways." The cycle growing more and more chaotic as countless threads are created, becoming an interwoven web of alternate 'timelines'. An effervescence of disruption! The final dialogue, then, refers directly to watcher, instead of discussing things, indicated by the use of NOW. It goes:
Taking into reference what i mentioned before, this is the weaver explaining how the watcher has found its way to ascension. "An understanding. A path. A purpose" is just the opening, filler talking about how the watcher "understands" now, whatever that may mean. "Movement along the line, from distant to origin." is the most evident, talking about how the watcher has gotten closer and closer to the end of their line, and their inevitable ascension. The specific use of the word "Origin" as the end point i feel reinforces the idea of this line referring to ascension, the Origin being the void sea. "From spiral to loop." as watchers cycle settles, the froth calms down, and ST is no longer disrupting things nearly as much. The watchers cycle isnt spiraling outwards anymore, they arent creating new threads. "From loop to point" as the watcher approaches ascension, their various threads begin to sync up, preparing for them to move on. The loop, the cycle, becoming one constant between every thread. A Point. This is just my take on things, but i hope its comprehensible, thanks for reading this far ^-^
