Five Monsters Call Me Daddy

elysian looked over and smiled with a small nod. “sure did. i feel like we just celebrated christmas,” she said. “i wish halloween lasted longer. it’s my favorite holiday.”

“take your time, there is no rush at all.” she offered him a smile of reassures. the blonde pressed her lips together from letting a smile escaping through but it failed. she gave it a small moment, she wanted to reach out and touch him but she thought it would be better to save it for later or before she left. “well, you know me. i can hug you all day honestly,” she grinned over at him. charlotte sat up, her smile grew. “is that so? oh, that’s going to be so fun for you. and yeah, you’re older now but it’s okay, i bet you’re still amazing as you were when you were younger, jace.”

“no pressure at all because i did push it and i’m sorry for that. i shouldn’t have done that to you, jace. i’m sorry,” her voice quiet as she spoke her. her fingers picked again at her dress and nodded her head. “i completely understand, i get it. take your time with everything. you’re going to figure everything out and find yourself and when you’re ready, we’re ready too with open arms.” she smiled gently. charlotte let out a small laugh. “sorry but you said it out of nowhere and it caught me off guard. i was like, ‘what? here?’ but anyway,” she giggled out, shaking her blonde locks. “if you do or don’t, just know that you can anytime and i’ll be there.” 

“is that what you want as well?” charlotte asked him, her eyes going back down to her white dress as her freshly painted pink nails picked at it once more. she didn’t want to pressure him into a relationship, she wanted things to be both on their terms. her eyes widen at his words, looking back to him before pressing her lips together but a giggle escaped out anyways. “sorry, my mind went somewhere else but it’s funny.” she shook her head, covering her face before removing her hands. “do they?” she hummed, leaning on her hand. the blonde nodded her head. “i get it and i understand. when i return home, you can always call me any time of the day.” 

charlotte nodded her head, “i agree with you. the kids come first, no matter what. we put all the kids first always.” agreed the woman. focusing on the kids was something that charlotte wanted to come first before their relationship. they were in the middle of this all, they needed to be first. “okay,” she nodded her head once more. her blue eyes looked over to the waves before looking back to him. “and jace, i would really love that.” she smiled softly. “i want to be with you and there is no buts after what i’m going to say. i believe if we move forward and become stronger, we will be amazing together. that’s what i want.” 

charlotte nodded her blonde locks gently. “i don’t know, jace. like i said, i don’t know when it happened but i fell in love with you. it just happened. maybe because i am just a stupid blonde,” she said, pushing back her hair from her face with a small shrug, pressing her lips together. she released them taking in a deep breath in then out. “i know i can’t with everything but whether we’re together or not, we move forward because of the kids and for our wellbeing. we’re going to be in each other’s lives.” she told him. “they miss you a lot. napping time with the boys isn’t the same,” she lightly chuckled. 

“you know honestly, i was thinking the exact same thing when valentina told me where you were. then i pulled up to this and it’s completely different,” she replied back to him. charlotte’s blue eyes stared at him as he spoke, she wasn’t sure on what to say. what could she say? she looked down at her hands, fumbling with each other. “i didn’t say it because i wasn’t sure and because of apart me doesn’t want it to be over, you know? when i thought about seeing you again, i wanted nothing more to just hug you and tell you how much i love you and how i was going to stand by you through it all, thick and thin.” she told him, keeping her eyes on her fingers. never did charlotte think they would have a talk like this. things have changed and for the better. “we both would have to deal with it ‘cause breaking up is never easy. it’s heartbreaking.” the blonde looked up at him, hearing that, she felt a shiver go down her spine. his biggest regret.

“what did you imagine when you came here?” she question, her brow arching slightly. she was indeed curious to know. this was so different from how they used to talk to each other when it was bad. she could see the difference in many things. “i’m proud that you’re opening up, jace. it’s going to be amazing in the long run, i know it.” the blonde suck in some air while she heard him. “i didn’t know what to say who i was to you because i don’t know what we are. the last time i saw you, it sounded like you didn’t want to be with me anymore. so i’m not sure where we stood in our relationship.” she told him, looking over at him. when he started to apologize, her stomach twisted, her heart pounded in her chest, her eyes started to sting. “thank you,” lowly mumbled charlotte. “i know it now,” she nodded her head for a short second. “there is no rush to get out of our house,” she told him, looking back him. 

charlotte stood quiet, listening to his voice as he spoke. her head nodding right after, she was glad to see him getting the help that he needs and she could see it was doing great things for him and not just the addiction part. “jace, i’m incredibly proud of you for coming here and doing this. i can’t imagine it’s easy but you’re really strong,” she offered him a small smile. when he asked the question, charlotte looked down at her hands. she honestly didn’t even know what they were, she still didn’t. she looked back up over to him, “i just said that i was the mother your kids. that’s all i told them.. well besides my name,” she shook her head side to side.  

charlotte’s eyes watched as he hopped off the pole onto the sand then making his way over to her. she never took her eyes off of him as he did so. “indeed she did,” she hummed out, looking at her hands before back to him. “yeah, i wouldn’t be able to have,” she said, her fingers now picking away at her dress as she spoke. she could easily recall the last time she saw him, it was heartbreaking for sure. her blue eyes scanned over his face, she could see how healthier he looked. he looked good, she smiled at him. “you look good, jace. how are you doing?” she asked him. 

the fresh air hitting her face as they entered outside in the back where the beach was.  finally, she got a glimpse of him as they drew closer to the man. a smile formed on her pink lips at the sight of him, she did miss seeing his face. charlotte missed a lot about him. she nodded her head, she didn’t want to disturb him with the sound of her voice. “thank you,” she mouthed to her before going to the chairs and sitting down. she then placed her purse onto the side table as she watched him, the smile never fading.  

after getting to her hotel and changing into something more wearable than the sweats and oversized baggie she had on. she found herself in a sundress and high heels, she fixed herself up before getting a uber and driving down to the rehab center. “hi, i’m charlotte hepburn. i’m here to see jace kingston,” the polite blonde smiled at the woman at the front desk. when asked if she was the ex-wfie, she shook her head. “no, i’m his… his, uh, mother to his kids.” she shook her head. she went to have a seat after they said they go fetch him. charlotte sat down, fiddling with her purse as she waitied. 

“He doesn’t like to be bothered when he’s out here...and we’ve noticed a great difference when we let him come out here. Better then trying to get him to go to Zumba for the day.” The nurse said. “Please, take a seat out here. He shouldn’t be much longer.” The women gesture to some seats stuck in the sand and aged by the sun.
