A Little Extra

Julian Donovan’s whole life was mapped out for him and you know what? He was glad for it. It took some of the pressure off, having a clear plan to follow and goals to achieve. Plus, with all the pressure he puts on himself to succeed, the less to think about, the better. Julian has very little time for “fun”. His schedule has been jam packed since he was old enough to have one. If he was ever out all night, it was studying or working late in the office. Julian is smart, hardworking and while it might not seem like it, knows how to play the game. When it comes to working a room, charming a client, nailing a deal- he’s your man. When it comes to getting the joke, having a little flirt or expressing his more complicated feelings, well, he’s not so great. Luckily for Julian, he’s always had a more chaotic half in the form of BFF Emmeline Fairchild.

Emmeline dragged Julian to parties, made him laugh so much he cried and defied her pre-mapped out life at every turn. Sometimes he was horrified by it, sometimes he was envious but for all of the time, he adored her. Julian has always believed in Emmeline, that she can do anything that she wants to and she’s incredibly capable (and just incredible). In fact, Julian used to think that maybe they would be the ones that would… You know… Nevermind. Julian’s a good man with a promising career and future. Anyone would be lucky to have him but it was always going to be Lucille Fairchild. The weight of his grandmother’s engagement ring had been crushing him for a long time before he actually got down on one knee. He loves Lucille, he does. They’re a great match. Their families are both so happy and excited. It’s the fairytale ending, right? Julian has many talents and being oblivious to his own feelings while swimming down the river of denial is one of them. Unfortunately, Julian Donovan has never stepped a toe out of line and it’s doubtful he’ll start now. Then again, you should never say ‘never’.
