Sometimes I feel "happiness" is overrated. Sure, we need happiness in our life, but it's just a part of what we are. We also need sadness, and anger, and fear, and anxiety, and mistakes to be able to grow. We need multiple facets to be closer to completeness. I am thankful for the good people I have met in my life, but I am also thankful for the toxic and destructive people I have known. The toxic ones have offered me the greatest growth, and offered me the greatest lessons in my life. I am grateful for all the little accomplishments I have achieved so far, but I am also glad that I have had bad days too. Sometimes I win, but sometimes I learn. So if you are having a bad day, take a shower. Take five showers. And remember, "happiness" is not the ultimate destination. You are not supposed to be "happy" all the time. And when you feel the whole spectrum of emotions, and experience the positives and negatives alike, you are just getting closer to completeness, you are getting closer to being more "human" human. - Shivee Chauhan

âWomen are approximately 50 per cent of the population. We need art in this medium of cinema and TV that reflects thatâfull stop. Thereâs been a bias [toward] three-dimensional male roles, and thereâs an evolution happening. This is overdue. When we arenât talking about gender anymore, weâve achieved equality. But we still have to talk about inequality until that happens. Thatâs the dream in any area of society for me: that there is a balance in representation.â - Natalie Dormer for Fashion Magazine (February 2016)

How dare you tell me âI am not like most girlsâ, when those 'girlsâ you refer to are my sisters and mothers, my friends, the very solace and the kindness I have sought when the worst things in my life have happened? How dare you assume I should take that as a compliment, and beam at you like it is praise when you are alienating me from the very core of my proudly female being? There are a thousand ways to tell me you love me, and making my sisters small to make me big isnât one of them.  Tell me you love me, but not because I am different. Tell me you love me, just because you do.
âYou Arenât like Most Girlsâ | Nikita Gill (via meanwhilepoetry)
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive. It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain. I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it, or fade it, or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, remember the limitations of being human. It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. If you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy. I want to know if you can see Beauty even when it is not pretty every day. And if you can source your own life from its presence. I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, 'Yes.' It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children. It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back. It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

n. frustration with how long it takes to get to know someoneâspending the first few weeks chatting in their psychological entryway, with each subsequent conversation like entering a different anteroom, each a little closer to the center of the houseâwishing instead that you could start there and work your way out, exchanging your deepest secrets first, before easing into casualness, until youâve built up enough mystery over the years to ask them where theyâre from, and what they do for a living.

Itâs not that I canât fall in love. Itâs really that I canât help falling in love with too many things all at once. So, you must understand why I canât distinguish between whatâs platonic and what isnât, because itâs all too much and not enough at the same time.

Subsidy is for Art. It is for Culture. It is not to be given to what the people want, it is for what the people donât want, but ought to have. If they really want something, they will pay for it themselves. The Governmentâs duty is to subsidise education, enlightenment, and spiritual uplift, not the vulgar pastimes of ordinary people.
Sir Humphrey Appleby (via logik36)
Americans must understand I love them. Even more than they love themselves. And how could they [love themselves]? 30% eat in their cars.
