Found a video about Robert John's "Guns N' Roses: The Photographic History" recently! We've seen snippets from this interview session before, but I hadn't seen these specific parts, so I thought I'd make a small video with them.
I had read excerpts and transcripts of this. I had seen clips. But somehow - I do not know how - I missed the part about that particular photo being taken on the roof in Atlanta, Georgia.
That's a big deal. I've seen that picture so many times. I knew Izzy was cold. You can tell. I always felt it was morning. And I remember thinking, 'Is that L.A. or somewhere else?' And now I know it was actually in my hometown. Love it. I love any Atlanta-GNR related history.
If you don't know, Atlanta banned GNR from playing in Atlanta again. They asked for an apology from Axl, but he refused. They didn't come back for a long time, lol. I don't think they went back until 2012. I'll have to double check that. Slash was asked about it and said he would love to go back to Atlanta because they have the best strip clubs.
At the time, Atlanta had full nude clubs and not many cities did. Atlanta was considered one of the best and still is for strip clubs, lol. In fact, after Axl lost it and the show ended early that night, Slash said to just take him to a strip joint, lol.
