I might end up listing all of them, but I’ll do my best wwww. The hearts indicate how much I love it lmao. So okay, I’ll answer chronologically:

1. “A cool guy wouldn’t cheat on their partner.” 💜💜💜💜 💜

Honestly, the first time I heard this, I thought this had a romantic layer underneath, because Maka compared their situation to her Papa’s love life. Anyway, romantic or not, this is very good premise on the pilot episode. I could smell that unrelenting loyalty of Soul’s right away wwwww

2. When Soul shielded Maka from Stein 💜💜💜💜 💜

I don’t know why, but this scene left more impact for me than the Italy Debacle. Maybe it’s because of his solid declaration, or how he so readily wanted to tear Stein’s neck apart even though he knew he was absurdly outmatched. This was when I first sensed that this boy has a whole other level of ‘protecting’ than any other weapons. Even other Death Scythes.

He doesn’t merely ‘protect’.

He ‘shields’.

3. When Soul shielded Maka from Crona 💜💜 💜

Ah, yes. The famous “I’m prepared to die for my Meister!”

I like this scene a lot, of course, who didn’t? But I felt like I was already expecting this kind of thing from him since way back to the Stein scene so it honestly didn’t surprise me much. It only solidified my theory that this boy is absolutely insane lmao. Still 10/10 tho.

4. The Chest Touching Scene 💜💜💜💜

This. The atmosphere, the unspoken declaration, the confusion on Soul’s part, the tension. Good death, the anime was even more beautiful.

5. When Maka sneakily gave him food 💜💜

It was so sweet and cute, that they were both idiotic kids who just couldn’t voice their worries straight on. Such cute tsunderes.

This is also a few of unspoken things between them I like so much.

6. WHEN HE FUCKING USED HIS BODY TO CUSHION HER FALL OH MY GOD THIS BOY IS NUTS 💜💜💜💜💜💜

BOI I WOULD NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT THIS EXACT SCENE!!!

I mean, I knew he was a hopeless idiot, but I didn’t think it was to this extent!! Bruh, it wasn’t a mere second-story window or smt, it was higher than buildings. He could really die! What was he thinking??? He didn’t even try to lessen the impact, only wrapped her the best he could. You didn’t see that kind of thing from other weapons! Like, at all!!

Stupid, absurd, devoted, suicidal idiot of a weapon!

This was also the scene that sealed the deal for me, I think.

7. When he gently asked her about her weird behavior 💜 💜 💜

Many people overlooked and forgot about this scene. But I really like it. This shows that, before anything else, Maka and Soul are best friends. Even if it was platonic, their bond is strong and beautiful.

They’re worried for each other, but they still respect the other’s personal spaces and didn’t pry if their partner chose to not talk about it. They also trust each other deeply, completely believing they can always count on their partner. And that’s a damn fine friendship in there.

8. The whole Bor-7 Factory Arc 💜💜💜💜💜 💜

I love everything about this arc. Like, every bit of it. Maybe my second fave arc after the Salvage.

Their horrified eyes when Maka was taken by the clown, Soul completely losing his shit, Soul’s face when he touched her mask UGH, Soul being so gentle when leading her to the piano, and the fact that shE CHOSE THE ‘G’ KEY WHICH IS ALSO KNOWN AS ‘SOL’!!!

9. “Call me angel!” 💜💜 💜 💜

This is where I headcanon that Maka started to feel something for Soul, being irrationally snippy and pouty when he refuses to call her that, comparing them to Ox and his beloved Kim, who had an actual romantic courting going on.

10. The entiRE SLOTH AND ENVY CHAPTERS GOOD DEATH FUCKING YESSSSSSSS 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I want to apologize in responding so late. My headspace was a bit messy and I did not want to respond to you in a manner that was not my best.

To answer it simply, no - Johan was not (intentionally) tainting her image with his actions; because Anna is no more. But it was simply a means to an end. Johan in Kinderheim 511 was taught espionage and how to achieve his goals using such skills. Another manipulation tactic is using charm and how else can he get closer to a police officer then to masquerade as a woman?

But there is also the factor that...the only "image" of a woman as a person and a character to mimic and act as, in his head is...his sister.

There is also a chance Johan was trying to reclaim his lost memories, of the Red Rose, retracing his sister's steps up until he got there and then he burned that "identity of his" along with the mansion itself.

I found him burning that version of him very symbolic...as clearly his mother forcing him to pretend to be Anna affected him gravely and he was "freeing" himself of his mother's burden.

Johan knows the identity of Anna is "dead" the sister he had is no more than a memory. and I can't help but feel as though this was done by his hands.

Going on a whim here because this finding below fascinated me:

Johan was probably the one who gave Anna her new name "Nina"

How else or rather, WHY ELSE, did the Fortners keep Anna's birthday the same if they were trying to give her a new identity as "Nina" unless Johan told them her name was Nina and her birthday is on such and such? Johan planned from that moment that he would return to her when they were 20 years old (as he told the old blind man)

Fortners never knew her as Anna Liebert. Johan never let them know who she was - only he was left in the world knowing who she truly was.

With Johan's fixation on names/identity, if he wanted Anna to truly heal and leave her painful past behind, he would be the one to suggest a name change, an identity change - a life without him completely where there were no attachments to him. Now he was the only Nameless Monster left.

But this is why he does not care what he does with the identity of Anna because there is no longer anyone attached to that name, not him or his sister - it is just a name he can "consume" and throw away (mimicking the Nameless Monster book.)

If he went around and killed as Nina Fortner then I'd firmly believe he did it to destroy his sister's integrity and image with his actions. But like I said before, his only "experience" on how a female would behave,act,think etc; is his sister - who he stalked and spent over 10 years watching/observing.

That is the only reason why he chose Anna to masquerade as, because he knows nothing else.
