It was Halloween night, a popular time to dress up and go to mundane clubs. You, Clary, and Izzy were getting ready in Izzyโs room. The three of you were going as the Powerpuff girls: Clary as Blossom, Izzy as Bubbles, and you as Buttercup. The three of you were wearing similar outfits but in your respective colours. You had a green top and green skirt paired with a black belt, fishnets and boots. You looked over at Izzy who was just finishing her final touches on her makeup.
โJace is going to freak out seeing you in that, especially the tights.โ Izzy looked you up and down.
You laughed at her comment but blushed at the thought of Jace seeing you.
โAlright letโs get this show on the road.โ Clary walked out of the bathroom.
The three of you grabbed your bags and headed to the elevator that would lead you to the lobby where Jace and Alec would be waiting. Church the cat led the way to the elevator. Izzy had put a tiny pumpkin hat on his head for the holiday which he wasnโt mad about. You excitedly moved in the elevator wanting to see what Jace had dressed up as. The doors opened and the three of you walked out. Jace and Alec turned around to greet you. Both you and Jace stopped and looked at each other, eyes raking up and down. He had his hair messily slicked back, skull makeup, a black button down shirt with the first few buttons undone, and black dress pants. Alec was wearing the same thing as his parabatai, obviously. You walked over to Jace and he grabbed you by your waist and pulled you closer to him.
โYou look so hot right now, darling.โ He whispered to you.
โSays you, you look really fucking hot right now.โ
He looked you up and down again.
โI would say let's skip the club, but our friends look eager.โ
Izzy grabbed your arm pulling you away from Jace.
โStop flirting and let's go.โ

The Pandemonium was hot and sweaty. It was more packed than usual, filled with people dressed up for Halloween. You, Izzy, and Clary were squished together dancing amongst people. You had almost been there for 2 hours now. You felt someone tap your shoulder. You turned around to be met with Jace. His makeup was still going strong even though he was sweating. You couldnโt help but look at the small amount of skin that his shirt exposed. He grabbed your wrist and the two of you made your way to the back door leading to the alley. No one was out there to your surprise. Your back was now pressed up against the brick wall as Jace slid his hands to your waist. His lips met with yours. It wasnโt uncommon for a night out to end with you and Jace disappearing somewhere and making out. Your friends knew and figured, considering you were dating, but no one cared. One of Jaceโs hands slid down from your waist and to your thigh. His hand snaked under your skirt and settled on your thigh. One of your hands was tangled through his hair that was now no longer slicked back. The two of you pulled apart for air, your chests hitting each other with each breath.
โI say we ditch this place and head back.โ He smirked.
The crew had all retired below deck and were now asleep, you however, were standing on the deck looking up at the sky. The stars freckled the dark night sky, and the moon illuminated everything underneath it. The sound of very familiar footsteps got closer before they stopped next to you.
โYou should be asleep.โ
You looked to your left to see Will looking out at the water.
โYou should be asleep as well.โ You responded back to him.
He gave a small hum in response. The wind lightly went through his hair and the moonlight cast a heavenly glow onto his face.
โI know youโre staring, love.โ He turned to look at you, catching you in the act.
โCanโt help that you look so handsome.โ You smiled at him.
He smirked and looked at you. You blushed and looked at the sky once more.
โYou know the stars and the moon are beautiful but I can name one thing that beats them both.โ He said, a smile evident in his voice.
โAnd what would that be William Turner?โ You already knew his answer but yet you asked and turned to him.
โYou my love.โ
Your eyes met after his answer.
โGod you are so beautiful.โ He whispered to you.
He pulled you in by your waist and your lips collided. The feeling of kissing him was something that could never be replaced. The way his hands were planted on your hips and his thumbs tracing circles was something that always caused shivers to run down your spine. He pulled away suddenly. You gave him a confused look as you scanned his features to try and figure out why he stopped.
โWe should probably go to your cabin below deck.โ The corner of his mouth turned up.
Your mouth curved into a smile and he grabbed your hand and you both hurried below deck quietly. The struggle of staying quiet but rushing past the sleeping crew on hammocks almost caused the both of you to laugh. You made it to your cabin and you opened your door letting Will enter first. You shut the door behind you both. Will grabbed your waist again and pushed your back against the door. Your hand went to the door knob as you fiddled with the lock. Your bodies pressed together as your lips met with his once again. His hands were now lazily on your hips. The two of you stumbled across your small room to your bed. You both pulled away to catch your breath as you sat on the edge of your bed.
โIโm so glad you have your own quarters on this ship.โ He said between breaths.
You were sat at your vanity in your room at the institute taking your hair out of its style after going out with Isabelle for your birthday. You were brushing your hair when you heard a knock at your door.
โCome in!โ You yelled to whoever was at the door across the room.
The door opened and you looked at your mirror to see who came in. It was Jace. He gently closed your door and made eye contact with your reflection.
โJace, what are you doing here?โ You turned around.
โI wanted to give my wonderful girlfriend her birthday present without everyone around.โ
He strode over to where you sat.
โJace, you know you didnโt have to get me anything.โ
โOf course I did, darling. Itโs your birthday.โ
Your heart melted at his nickname for you. He pulled a small box out of his pocket and handed it to you. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. You opened the box to see a silver heart shaped locket. You opened it up and there was a picture of you, Jace, Izzy, Alec, and Clary in it on one side and on the other there was a picture of just you and Jace. Your eyes softened at the pictures and you looked back up at Jace.
โJace, I love it.โ You breathed out.
โLook at the back of it.โ
You furrowed your eyebrows but didnโt question it as you flipped the heart to see something engraved in cursive on the back.

The Latin phrase he always said to you. You looked back up to Jace who was looking at you with a smile.
โHere let me put it on you.โ He offered.
You handed him the box and he took the necklace out. You turned back around and looked in the mirror, grabbing your hair out of the way. Jace unclasped the necklace and put it around your neck. As he closed it his fingers brushed against the back of your neck causing butterflies in your stomach. Once he finished, his hands slid to your shoulders. You reached up and held the necklace before turning back to him. Your eyes met once again. Your eyes flicked towards his lips. He must have been thinking the same thing because leaned down and kissed you on your lips.

Summary: Kaz and Y/n had always gone toe to toe, they were the hero of Ketterdam and he was the Bastard, so it was inevitable when they fell in love

This wasn't part of the plan.
You had thought everything through, every element, every role, every trash idea, you'd thought through it all. Expect for this, you never thought through this.
When you'd figured out that Kaz was going to blow every Dime Lions building to bits you knew right away you had to stop him. Perhaps Pekka Rollins deserved it, but what about the indentured girls and grisha? What about every servant, every guard that worked for that monster? Were they just left to die, some casualties?
Having decided that no, this would not be happening you couldn't let them die. You had to stop him, the man you loved from killing the innocent people.
It had always been like this, you were the hero of Ketterdam, never known by name just the 'hero.' And he, Kaz Brekker was the Bastard you constantly fought with him, harsh punches that turned into late midnight dates. You had begged him once to leave his path of revenge, he had looked you in the eyes and said;
"I love you Y/n, but everything I have done has been to see him six feet under."
You had been a fool to think he'd eventually change, that he could even possibly try to change, so it stayed just like that. Toe to toe in the for the city while the little secret rendezvous slowly faded away because if he wouldn't even try then what was the point?
You didn't think he would ever try, but he did.
"Kaz." You croak out blood lining your shirt as you press your hand to your wound as you limp over to him.
"Stay back, Y/n" He whispers, he didn't call you 'hero' and mock you no, he was calling you by your real name. He had never done that when you two fought.
You shake your head, you couldn't let him do this. This wasn't the plan, this couldn't even be a possibility. Maybe you planned for him to go through with blowing up everything, that was one of the worst things you had to consider. So you had dismantled the bomb system, but the way that it was made... Wasn't meant to be taken apart the way that you did, making one thing clear. This starter bomb had to go off.
"We're running out of time Kaz, please! We have to go! Please listen to me love!" You barely realize that you had let the nickname slip through your lips as you beg for him to go with you, let this one house blow to hell. As long as he lived.
Slowly he starts backing up, the bomb in hands blinking at you like a cat, as if to say, leave.
But you wouldn't without him, so you start marching towards him.
"I am damaged."
You freeze in your step, this couldn't be happening here, not now, please by the saints let him live another day.
"Y/n, am I beyond repair before I didn't- I couldn't understand why you wanted to try help me see that there was-" He takes in a breath and limps backwards some more.
"More to life than revenge."
He closes his eyes and he opens them looking at you with so much love you couldn't move. Never, had he let himself look at you like that so freely. He really thought he was going to die didn't he?
"I can't see that. But I see you Y/n and," He pauses.
"You're not beyond repair."
"Kaz we- we can leave!" Tears fill your eyes as your voice wobbles.
He just chuckles. "You've always been so smart I don't know why I thought I could beat you. Really you are truly the only one whose beaten Dirtyhands fair and square even when I was cheating."
Finally your legs seem to have feeling in them again and you go up to run to him, rip the bomb out of his arms and take him out of here but he push's you back.
"Leave with me Kaz." You sob into your hands your knees nearly buckle.
"Y/n, someone needs to stay down here to cover the bomb so it doesn't kill all the people up there." He inclines his head up.
"And they need you up there."
Continuing to sob you're finally able to chock out the words you want to say.
"Take me, take me instead! This doesn't have to be this way!"
Kaz just looks at you and smiles sadly.
"Take a step back Y/n."
You cry, and scream out for him but you do as he says anyways.
"Go to the door."
You nod and limp over to the door, yet you couldn't stop crying. You didn't want to leave without Kaz.
"When this thing goes off I need you to open the door and run up those stairs. Can you do that for me?"
All you could do was nod.
"Miss me okay? I wish I could've kissed you..." A beautiful smile is painted upon his face as he close's his eyes no doubt thinking about you.
"I might not have gotten my revenge, and I might not have know how to let it go, but I do know you Y/n. Clean up the city, saints knows you're the only one capable." He opens his eyes and he glances down at the bomb he has holding to his chest, his time is ticking, running out. You're sure he only has a few more moments left.
"Wait! You don't need to go like th-"
Kaz suddenly realizing he wouldn't have enough time to say, or even do everything he wanted to interrupts you.
"Our love is God."
You can't speak, and you can't take your eyes off of him. Glancing down at the bomb you both know it's going to go off.
"Our love is God." He mumbles again looking right at you with love that you would never forget.
What could you say to a dying man?
"Say hi to God."
In that moment everything goes to hell, and you manage to rip open the door, run up the stairs and out of the building. Stumbling into an random ally you wobble and fall to the ground and sob, and sob.
Looking up at the sky, you realize that it was a clear night, something that never happened in Ketterdam.
"Hello Kaz." You whisper up at it.
