Not having true agency over your life being represented by a physical object branded on your body somewhere and that all of the clan members either having a fucked up relationship with sexuality or not being allowed to have ever explored that themselves, either directly because their bodies were being controlled by another force or the weight of their fate and role in society preventing them from allowing themselves to, whether they want to or not

Thinking of how the only character we know who most likely had a healthy relationship with sex before becoming a clan member, considering he had a lover and he seemed happy (Quincy) and how afterwards it became an action he performed because people asked him to, because it helped him feel just a little less wretched and alone for a moment. Being stripped of your agency causing your relationship with your sexuality to become poisoned. The other character we know for a fact had sex before eiden, rei, has a horrific relationship with it and was born as a clan member.

Every clan member connecting with eiden via sex, from the moment they meet, to the end point of every SSR, they communicate and heal in large part via their sexual relationship with eiden. Compared to Huey who was made in a way that even thinking about it was unnecessary- he was made powerful enough that his sexuality didn't even need to be a concept. Would he have liked sex? Would he decide it wasn't for him? Would he have never tried it even if he could? He was never allowed any of those options because that's not how he was created.

I read "why don't you eat me, my dear wolf?" (Which is good btw go read it, I'll wait), and thought that more monstery looking yokai would be awesome, the only basis of this au lol

Anyway, olivine was born on the first day of the year in which their town must offer a sacrifice to their god, which means he was chosen. Since birth til adulthood he was carefully manufactured to be the perfect sacrifice: he was taught all the stories about their god, about the values that he holds highest, how to be polite and demure, and of course, strictly watched so that he remained pure for their god.

He was well loved by the townspeople, but he was never allowed to be too close to them, and the majority of his social interaction came from reading to the local children. He loved spending time with them, but in the depths of his heart, he was terribly lonely. He buried these feelings in books, in crafts, and in the comforting knowledge that all this would be for the greater good. He wanted nothing more than to make the people around him safe and happy. He never feared his looming demise, finding the inevitability of it rather peaceful.

When the day came, he spent a long time saying goodbye to the people he loved, and insisted they don't cry for him, because this was a happy thing, a good thing, for them. Then he went off with the god's attendant that came to fetch him and take him to heaven and well. Lmao

It's not quite the heaven he read about in stories and scriptures, not even remotely actually. He's taken to the realm of yokai, where there's not a single benevolent god, but a magical, long lived people who were originally animals, some of which really loved to fuck around with humans. His god was one of them, and he doesn't! Even! Want! To! Eat him!!!!

Olivine was prepared his entire life to be a delicious little morsel and when confronted with his god, a gigantic purple talking fox. For some reason. His god turned up his snout at him and said he smelled bland and unseasoned and nauseating, what kind of life did he live to become so utterly boring? It wouldn't even be fun to trap him in an illusion, get the hell out of his house

Olivine refuses because he WILL be eaten and ensure the prosperity of his people (or else what was the point of all those years existing the way he did)

Some notes cuz this is now officially too long lol:

- kuya has been fuckin around with this one human town for so long they think he's their god, tho it's been forever since he's personally showed up. Seems like they invented a whole new person in his absence

- he is currently in the depths of a centuries long depressive episode due to a few factors: he got into a big fight with his husband a few hundred years ago and they divorced (still not over it), this weirdo magician he loved vanished without a trace a few decades ago (really not over this), but even without those he's been feeling like life is boring and pointless and then THE epitome of a boring and pointless little human shows up demanding that kuya eats him

- his favorite past times used to be terrorizing humans and stalking/fucking around with his exes, but even that isn't as fun as it used to be.

-garukaru and yakumo live with kuya, ostensibly as his attendants but really more like boy toys. Garu was rescued when he was very young by rei, and him, rei, and Quincy once all lived with kuya but well. That isn't the case anymore. He's still very close with rei and used to stay with him sometimes, but he's gotta stay with master kuya now he's so sad!!

-other yokai have no idea why yakumo works under kuya considering his lineage and power, but what can you do when you're a simple farm boy who gets swept off your feet by a beautiful and charismatic guy....he also of course lives with kuya but leaves to visit his human grandparents a few times a year. Kuya Does Not Get That, what a weirdo

-yakumo and Garu plead with kuya to let olivine stay, lying that they want a human to play with, honestly kuya doesn't care enough either way just get that dude away from him ech. It's from them that olivine learns more about kuya and this world, and the more he learns about kuya lmao. What the fuck. Little crisis of faith maybe just a little bit.

-hes really a good person tho really!! Yakugaru promises

-but none of that matters because olivine's ass will be eaten. He literally has nothing to lose. Olivine quickly becomes kuya's biggest headache but maybe this is better than how painfully dull things were like before he came

Oli would charm the yokai pretty fast, obviously, and garu and yakumo are easy prey...olivine helps brush garu's fur and makes him treats draws with him and reads him books, olivine always compliments yakumo's cooking and Yakumo at first would have tried hard to maintain his human form because he's got so much baggage from humans seeing his true form before he's sure he's gonna scare and repulse olivine but the first time he sees his snake he says yakumo's scales are beautiful. Got those two eating out the palm of his hand, kind of pisses kuya off

Kuya has a big home in the yokai realm but he's rarely there, it was foisted on him by the ruler of the yokai and it's moreso his attendants' house than his. Only a small handful of people know where kuya's actual house is. Oli gets dumped in the mansion at first but over the course of some months gets invited to kuya's love shack

Oli opens it and reads like 2 sentences before he has to slam it closed and thinks that it's much too late to start a book tonight. But he definitely sneaks back into the library later that night and swipes it lol

Oli does everything he can think of to earn kuya's favor, so he's bothering the shit out of him all day every day. Kuya could just hide away in his actual house but he's not going to give a human the satisfaction of thinking they have even a sliver of power to affect his behavior. After enough months I think olivine will just be like oh are you angry enough to eat me? :) when Oli has pissed him off for the fifth time that day lol

Kuya always tries to find ways to fuck with Oli for a crumb of amusement, but oli quickly catches on to his tricks. Most of them, anyway, there is definitely a night where kuya says if olivine is going to insist on reading to him he's going to pick the book rather than that drivel he likes.

Oli would have a talk with yakumo and Garu at some point about living with kuya, garu feels safe here and he can be himself, yakumo likewise feels like it's the only place where he doesn't have to hide who he is. Oli marinates on that for a long time. Maybe, at least in this place, it would be alright to not hold all his sins inside of him, his family and the townspeople would never know, and it's not like he's coming out of this alive, would it be a betrayal to everything he knew if he gave In before he died? Is it a betrayal if everything he knew was a lie, anyway, or should he still be faithful to the god that was built into him? He's probably eating some soup and boring a hole into the wall ruminating on this lol

Idk where to put this so just an aside garu usually sleeps with kuya in his actual house, tho sometimes he's in a particularly bad mood and kicks him out. Yakumo is still too shy to ask and what you think kuyas gonna beg? The snake can do what he likes. So as it stands garu is the only one allowed to be around kuya when he's asleep lol. Eventually Oli and kuya would sleep together....eventually. I'm sure kuya is very soft

Rei visits occasionally to see garu and kuya seems to magically know when this will happen bc he's always there to have a delightful chat with him, same thing with Quincy but Quincy doesn't visit before olivine comes to live there, kuya always has to track him down to bother him. They both come by a lot more when they hear rumors of a human staying at kuya's mansion. That can't possibly be healthy. They're both half convinced kuya put some sort of spell on Oli but after talking to him enough they realize oh there's just something wrong with you, awesome

But they still come to check on him bc neither of them want Oli to get eaten even if. Olivine wants to. For some reason. Like do you really trust kuya to "bless" your town in return have you met him...

Oli is effortlessly charming and cute and lovable so rei and Quincy get enraptured, just a little, just a lil bit. This also pisses kuya off. Stop flirting with his pet twinks and his ex husband and his ex situationship. Oli would be scandalized, was he doing that unconsciously oh no it's all leaking out....

Blade is also here because I love him. Kuya blade and a mysterious magician who knows who that is all traveled together at one point. Blade was like a defense android created to protect against yokai, I guess saia knows about yokai but Klein doesn't? I'll think about that later maybe lol but he got broken and Huey fixed him and gave him a "heart" so then he followed him around like a puppy. This also pissed kuya off. Everyone wants to steal his man(s)

When Huey disappeared kuya took his anger out on blade and blade unfortunately had to beat him within an inch of his life to get him to stop, and he dragged his body all the way back to his mansion. Garu and yakumo were freaking out who could have done this to master kuya!! Blade is like big wibbly eyes me...... Garu and yakumo see red.

Blade drags three yokai bodies around asking for medical help he's not a nurse he can't use healing magic

Lmao but yes eventually that matter is cleared up, everyone laughs about it afterwards yakumo and Garu might be like 2% scared of blade maybe just a little bit but they're all friends now!! Kuya still threatens blade when he comes to harass him (visit him bc he's his friend and he loves him) but it's empty

For some reason kuya does not want to think about it Also pisses him off when blade is instantly smitten with the nice human who likes to listen to all the interesting adventures blade has been on and places he's seen and reads with him
