Angels in America vs. TVL

Bonus, me before s1 even premiered:

Thought tumblr might like to see some Sam Reid photos from the programme of the beautiful Girl From the North Country seeing as I have taken them for elsewhere!

The play was an ache in your heart & a resonant love story to anyone (me!) who has ever felt like life is impossible & only ever becomes increasingly impossible. Which isn’t to say it was entirely hopeless… but it *was* entirely tragic.

The music in the play wasn’t used like in a musical, rather: like an emotional anchor - a bird-of-emotion - to express the depth of feeling & experience of characters that they were unable to convert in words or to each other & the insides of the characters’ hearts & souls & as the cast were actors first & such had the skill to be able to do this; they sent the music directly into your heart & soul.

I watched the play a number of (many!) times & every single time I began crying just before the interval & basically sobbed from then on till the end of the play, and oh how I loved it. I saw it so many times that once when I bought a ticket on the day, the theatre gave me the seat they keep free for the Director in case they ever want to watch a performance (mid-circle-centre if you’re wondering…)

I wish I could have a Time Machine to go back to it. It’s in the elite group of my favourite plays I have ever seen & experienced. 🎭💓✨🎵
