The History and Lore of House Martell by Oberyn Martell
I WANT THE REACH TO BE ITALY!
Let me tell you why!
I know, i know, i know, I KNOW that most people headcanon France as the Reach but as italian i see at least 8-10 similarities with Italy instead.
Please hear me out :
Tyrell's colors and features are more stereotypical south Europeans that support the idea of a very warm climate unlike most of France.
The new faith imposed over the pagan ancient rituals is clearly the "Christian one" (God is one in 7 = God is the Thrinity) and the biggest city in Reach becoming THE city of this new religion, where all the knowledges of that religion is preserved, mirrors last centuries of roman empire and the knowledge preserved in Rome.
Old Town being so old that none remember when it was founded and that was already there when Andals arrived recall Rome being "the eternal city" and arrivals of Barbarians that open the "dark age"/middle age.
All this happen in a territory known for a fertil soil since Italy was called "the garden of Europe" by European scholars for it's fertility and some foods from Italy were perceived as exotic and high-quality/class in Middle age north Europe.
This same territory is famous for luxury commerce; even now tourism is just the third most prosperous italian sector, luxury items as high fashion and luxury cars are the first, and even in past italians were famous for clothes.
Early Middle-Age Italy was famous for the Four Marittime Republics and the Reach have a big navy.
Tyrells and Hightower with their schemes and the habits of marry mostly people from inside their territory recalls Borgia and Medici, that rarely married not italian.
Medici and Tyrells share some similarity being both families that weren't originally meant to seat at the table with biggest one : the Tyrells never ruled as kings and originally were among the lower ranking houses of the Reach and just supported their power by marry into higher families, while Medici were originally bankers that heavily intermarriade with high rate local italian nobility to support their raise to the control of the richest city of Italy (Florence) back then. Both families use flowers as coat of arm.
Borgia and Hightowers too share some similarity : both were famous for having some members with very light colors in hair and eyes, unlike the Medici that were mostly brunettes (Ludovico dei Medici was called the Moor for his dark hairs) like Tyrells, both had members that were famously speculated to be involved into dark magic, both married primarily into their local city (Old Town/Rome) high nobility, both had deep ties with the dominant new religion (we had many Borgia as cardinals and popes).
Caterina de Medici and Maria de Medici (aunt and niece) being accused to be unfaithfull and too concerned with Italy's glory and interest over France's ones by French, recalls Cersei vs Olenna and Margaery's beef.
HighGarden was a rich court with great scholars and Italy created the bases for Reinassence in Middle Age, while other european countries experimented Reinassence only in Modern age.
Italians were perceived as sexually promiscuous and "too much into erotic songs/poetries" and Tyrells seems to love literature and sex.
You can call me delulu now, i surely am..but not fully.
The french can have the Lannister.
I AM BORED ( in Jenna marbles voice) I've been having a really weird time writing and I'm also bored so help me out by sending me a prompt from the list + the pairing you would want and add fluff or angst and I'll see what I can whip out for yall. please check the tags, If your ship is not there first send an ask about the couple first.
prompts taken from @creativepromptsforwriting
comparing hand-sizes to hold their hand against the other's and then just holding hands
leaning against the other one in close spaces
acting like they're cold to have an excuse to cuddle or share clothes or blankets
brushing a strand of hair away
grabbing each other's hands in crowds or when crossing the street to "be safe"
turning their cheek to get the other one to give them a peck
brushing their arm against the other's, hoping the other would finally catch their arm and hold it close
fixing the other's hairstyle to let their hands run through their partner's hair
draping the arm around their shoulder while sitting next to each other
lightly tickling the other one, almost hoping it gets retaliated
reaching out with their hand without saying anything, wanting the other one to grab it
linking arms when walking around together
trying to get the other to dance with them
bumping shoulders into each other
wrapping arms around the other's neck when standing behind them
PRINCE JACAERYS VELARYON [114 AC – 130 AC]
It is said that Jacaerys Velaryon leapt free and clung to a piece of smoking wreckage for a few heartbeats, until some crossbowmen on the nearest Myrish ship began loosing quarrels at him. The prince was struck once, and then again. More and more Myrmen brought crossbows to bear. Finally one quarrel took him through the neck, and Jace was swallowed by the sea.

“I wanted Rhaenyra to be stripped of her adulthood by the time she reaches the throne. She finds herself in this position where she’s required to execute her father’s former best friend. When someone has known you from your childhood, I think it’s very hard to retain the jacket of your adult self. And again when she sees herself via Alicent’s POV, there’s something of the two of them being children. This is also the court in which they grew up and the whole timeline is kind of laid bare between them in that look.” - EMMA D'ARCY
"Just because the Darkling had a difficult life, doesn't mean he was right!"
Correct.
He was right because he was the only one who assessed the situation realistically.
He was right because the world he inhabited was rotten to the core and needed a radical change, not a shallow refurbishment.
He was right because dismantling the Fold would not magically solve centuries of bigotry and oppression.
He was right because you can't appeal to the humanity of those who don't consider you human.
He was right because no matter how hard Grisha would try to accommodate otkazats'ya, it would never be enough because bigots didn't want Grisha nice, they wanted them dead.
He was right because another Lantsov monarch in the country that had been sucked dry by the Lantsovs in centuries is a catastrophe.
He was right because everything that happened after his death proved that there was no other way—everything only got worse.
He was right because he realized that genocide of his people is a more pressing issue than them having cliques in their community or them not wanting to share their tech with people who hate them.
He was right because he was the only one who made an effort to protect grisha and create a safe haven for them while numerous "saints" and other self-proclaimed "good people" were sitting on their ass.
He was right because only his actions helped Grisha in a meaningful, tangible way.
He was right because "the good guys" didn't manage to do a single useful thing while he was dead.
He was right because the story put Grisha in such a stalemate that the author didn't manage to come up with anything better than to solve racism with an absolutely idiotic dragon-shifting trick.
He was right because he was the only one who prioritized the collective survival of his people over his personal feelings and moral comfort.
He was right because he was the only character in the story in a morally defensible position and with a justifiable goal.
So yeah, even if he lived the happiest and most carefree life imaginable, he would still be fundamentally right.
EMMA D'ARCY as RHAENYRA TARGARYEN HOUSE OF THE DRAGON SEASON 3 Official Teaser Trailer
It gets a little bit weird to me when people act like it’s sort of a paternity test.
