“Damn.” She muttered under her breathe. Why on earth would the Prince need the slipper? She was the one who needed it most.

“Yes, I gathered that.” Emilia agreed. She was relieved she’d gotten to the slipper in time, but still wondered why this woman needed the same objects as desperately as she did.
She turned to be on her way, but she stopped at the woman’s words. “Help each other?” She repeated. It wasn’t an awful idea, but these objects had to be given to the witch. She couldn’t just hand them over to her. “I think first we need to get on the same page. I need a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn...” She explained, referencing the hair around her neck. “And a slipper as pure as gold to give to a witch that promised my husband and I if we collected all of these for her then she would lift a curse she put on my husband’s family and we’ll finally be able to have a child.” She gave a small sigh. “I know I must sound completely mad.”

Emilia snapped back, refusing to loosen her grip. No, she had worked far too hard to find this. This stranger wasn’t taking her only chance to be a mother away.
Once the hair was split it had thrown the other woman to the ground, but had lead Emilia to trip backwards into a tree.
"Well there you have it." Emilia retorted with a huff as she propped herself upright to her feet. They each now carried hair as yellow as corn.
Once the hair was hers, she wrapped it around her neck to keep it secure. There was no way she would let this go now.
“There. Now all I need is the golden slipper…”
Emilia was sure to keep hold to her own strands of the hair in case the woman decided to take that as well.
“Well you’ll have to speak to the prince about that. He has the other one.”

Happily Ever After
Emilia never had that moment in the woods with the prince. She refused his offer, knowing her heart surely belongs to her baker. In her attempts of fleeing the angry giant, she does in fact still fall from the tree, but it is not as severe and she does survive with a broken shoulder and heavy bruising. She is now safe at home with Henri and their beautiful prize, William.
No One Leaves For Good
Emilia has passed away, leaving her husband behind to raise their child as well as Little Red with the former princess, Ella. Now she can return to him as his and their son’s guardian angel and guide him when she feels he still needs her. The only ones who she will allow see her is Henri and their son.
A Prince For Whatever
There moment in the woods was much more than just a moment. The prince and Emilia sneak away to meet in the woods often and in time fall in love (not just lust) with each other, eventually leading them to leave their spouses behind and marry each other, giving Emilia the role of princess. Emilia’s fall never took place and she now lives with the prince and her son.

Emilia lives in New York City with her husband in a small apartment above their bakery. The couple has tried for many years for a child, but were never able to conceive on their own. Now with the option of in vitro fertilization, she’s picked up another job as a secretary for their next door neighbor in hopes of saving up enough money so that they can finally have a child of their own.

Emilia had finished work at the office much later than she had anticipated, but she had been more work than usual that day to accomplish by tomorrow. Finally, when she did get out it was dark. Of course her first thought was to hail a cab home, but she saw not a single one and decided it wasn't worth the wait. With a sigh she continued down the street, giving a small jump at the sudden voice behind her. She quickly turned around her. "I'm just on my way home."
"I know I must look crazy for not wanting any help…" She murmured after a moment. "But I can’t live here forever, Emilia, I have to learn how to do this on my own or I’m never going to be able to." She kissed her daughter’s hair softly, finally calming her enough that her snores mingled with her brother’s. "Of course I need help sometimes but…I can do this, I just need to remember that I can sometimes." She looked down at her twins, so precious they were. They were the only things that still truly held her to this world. She’d never leave them behind if she could. Rapunzel knew that she’d do anything to keep them aline, no matter what.
"Not crazy....stubborn." Emilia admitted, bluntly. She supposed Rapunzel had a point though she had no reason to leave them anytime soon. She needed help at least in the beginning. Emilia could hardly handle William by herself and their guest had twins! "You know you're welcome to stay here as long as you need, Rapunzel." She reminded her. Of course she knew she would want to leave to be on her own at some point, but the mere idea upset Emilia. "This is your home too."
"Momma!" Danny crowed, reaching up for her with flour-covered hands, "Mess, Momma!" He beamed, clearly proud of his work.
"Danny!" Emilia cooed back with a chuckle as she scooped him up into her arms. What difference had it made? She was already a mess from working. "I certainly see that." She said, tapping a finger to his nose, leaving a flour mark. "I think perhaps someone needs a bath tonight."

Smiling tiredly, she cooed at the baby in her arms. They were both already starting to get so big. It wouldn’t be very long before they couldn’t all safely fit in their bed together. She supposed when they were both older they would all be able to fit plenty safely just not so comfortably with two toddlers kicking and overheating her bed in the middle of the night. For now, she relished in hearing her son’s soft snores, soon accompanied by his sister’s little coos and quiet whines for attention. “I’m here.” She whispered into her daughter’s soft curls, they each had half of her to themselves, propped up slightly just in case. She hated sleeping like this, but for them, she’d do it.
Emilia was quickly realizing how stubborn Rapunzel could be. If only she'd accepted help willingly, she wouldn't be so exhausted. Usually Emilia was quick to return the stubborn manner, but being as tired as she was she simply didn't put up the fight anymore. She offered and if it wasn't accepted then she backed off. She wished though that her almost sister were more open to her assistance. Still she wouldn't push it. Instead Emilia tidied up the small mess accumulating on the changing table and made her way for the door. "Well if there isn't anything else you need, I'll be going." She announced, quietly. "But if you need me, just call."
"I’m your wife."

"And . . I guess that would make me your husband," Henri replied, smiling slightly at the woman. He took a step forward, extending a hand out. "Henri . . It’s nice to meet you officially."
Emilia was nervous. She had been the entire day, marrying a complete stranger. Did he notice? She hoped he hadn’t noticed. He seemed kind to her relief, but everything was so awkward…so new. She extended her hand to his and gave him a smile in return.
"It’s nice to meet you, Henri. I’m Emilia." She glanced around the room and finally back to him. "You….we run a bakery?"
Henri nodded slowly as he brought his hand back, immediately shoving them into the pockets of his apron, more to keep them from fidgeting about nervously. Gerta- the woman that had raised him for the vast majority of his life- had set the marriage up with Emilia’s parents on his behalf. Apparently she was concerned about the young baker living alone.
"Um. yes… we," he repeated with a nervous laugh. it was such an odd concept: we. His whole life it had just been him; even Gerta was more of an absent presence. Old, senile- not the most reliable of caretakers.
"Have you ever baked bread before?" he asked.
Emilia took a step back into her former place after shaking Henri's hand. How romantic. She thought, sarcastically. It wasn't exactly what she pictured. Marrying a man she didn't love, let alone one she even knew. The ridiculous part of her imagined one day she'd wed a prince and live in a large castle with grand balls and gowns, but those ridiculous dreams got her no where. At the very least she liked Henri; as a person anyway.
At his question she shook her head. "I'm afraid I haven't." To her she seemed an inadequate match for him. She couldn't even bake bread. What type of wife would she make? She wondered if he felt the same way.
