How are you? (I'm fine !)
Can I ask Kinich in a school au? It can be platonic or romantic, your choice!
Starting with my fav for now, wonderful!
It's short but I hope you like it !

The corridor was loud as always. You couldn't hear your footsteps if you wanted to. You slid your hand down to your vest pocket, turning up the music playing in your ears with a few clicks. You weren't really interested in hearing parts of discussions that didn't concern you at all. Keeping your eyes in front of you, not looking at your feet.
Your classroom was a couple of steps behind you but you had a ritual every morning. Your best friend, Mualani Umoja, takes the bus every morning and, because of it, always arrives before you. She spends the time left before your first class chatting in another classroom.
You stopped for a moment in front of the door, removing your headphones and putting them in your bag. Then you looked for her. It was always crowded here. And the reason was because it was Malipo Kinich's classroom.
A lot of students wanted to get to his good side. One, he is one of the top students. Two, he is part of the students council. And three, his mom is the school principal. But from what you heard, he never helps them without a price to pay.
You never talked to him, and honestly you hoped you never had to. There were bad rumors about him and even if you wanted to not believe them, his behaviour shows nothing to refute them. Sadly, for you, Kinich was friends with Mualani. You don't know when it happened but your best friend has been more frequently with him lately. She sometimes asks you to join them, with him and another younger girl. You did eat with them but he doesn't talk much. You kept talking with the little Kachina and Mualani.
You walked to Mualani when you caught a glimpse of her blue hair. Getting her out of the classroom room was a battle you had to win every single day. But you got the hang of this, literally.
School was boring. Mualani and you are an easygoing person, you always have people to talk to. But something you had not in common was the energy. Mualani was always ready for anything, whereas you always felt tired at the end of the day. Which was why your best friend was partying while you went home.
You walked slowly, greeting grandma Citlali on your way, and then, a few miles away was your home. You would do your homework until your mom comes home.
Every day was the same but you liked it this way.
Until one day, after greeting Citlali while she was lecturing Ororon, and sending him good luck, you went home to your mom and your principal.
" - Oh my, (y/n), sweetie, you're just in time. This is miss Kiongozi, can you believe your school principal is our neighbor and we didn't know? "
Your mom and Mavuika laughed together. You were surprised too actually. But Mavuika and her son always leave their home more early than your mom and you do. So it's just a coincidence you never met before. They live in front of your house too.
Since that fateful day, your mom and the red haired beautiful woman became two best friends. You often find them both in your house, giggling about something you wouldn't understand, probably.
It was weird at first but Mavuika is actually a sweet person and you kind of loved her since the first time. She was easygoing too and really kind to you.
She invited you and your mother to eat in her humble house one day. Your mom always cooked for you so it was new to eat someone else's cooking. Kinich wasn't here this time, and you were relieved because it would've been so awkward. But you had to meet his little brother instead. He was a young boy that couldn't watch his mouth. Every time the two moms talked about their children, the little boy would tackle his big brother. You actually laughed at this. Not because you were laughing at Kinich, just because he was cute when he was smirking, his little fangs showed.
It stayed like this some months before another turn of events happened.
One morning, when you just arrived in front of the classroom door, Mavuika ran to you before you entered. She looked panicked. You followed her at her office.
" - My dear (y/n), I won't be home tonight and I don't know if Kinich will be home. Could you just check on Ajaw for me ? He is sick and his babysitter can't stay the night. "
Of course, you accepted. Even if you didn't know Mavuika, you couldn't let a sick child alone.
So, you did as always. Waving goodbye to Mualani as she took her bus, greeting Citlali and found home. You changed a bit, feeling more comfy in casual clothes, and went to the house on the other side of the road.
You knocked at the door, waiting for little Ajaw to open the door. But to your surprise, and to Kinich's surprise, it was him that opened.
" - Oh. I thought you weren't home. "
" - And what does that's supposed to mean ? What do you want. "
Kinich couldn't help but be defensive. He didn't know you were a neighbor. To him, you followed him here.
" - I, Vuika asked me to check on Ajaw since she didn't know if you were home tonight. "
He frowned even more by hearing the nickname you used for his mom's name. Seeing him so lost made you laugh without you stopping it. He looked annoyed at your reaction. He was about to protest but you were quicker.
" - Sorry-! It's just- your face is priceless! "
He deadpanned and waited for you to call down.
" - So, explain yourself. How do you know my mom and brother? "
It was your turn to deadpan.
" - I'm your neighbor. It's been months since my mom and your mom became friends. "
He eventually let you enter the house and you two ended the evening playing with Ajaw. It was funny to hear Ajaw mock Kinich the first time but now that you saw the two of them fight against each other, it was even more fun. You laughed a lot this night.
Since then, when you went in his classroom to steal Mualani back, you would look at him and the both of you would nod to greet the other.
You would go see him more often in his house, and he would come home more often too. Eventually you figured you could just go home together.
You had wished to never talk to him, but you were glad your wish wasn't granted.
