Timeline of Minerva Mcgonagall ( birth - early thirties )
Birth:Â November 15, 1939, Caithness, Scotland, United Kingdom
It is as an infant that Minerva begins to display magic, which was a shock in itself and also the power she held. Her first use of magic was to control the neighborhood cats to come through her nursery window so she could see them.
She has two older brothers: Robert ( 5 ) and Malcolm ( 3 )
Before Hogwarts: 1939 - 1950
She spends a close time with her family as she couldnât control her magic, and often attended the church in the village where her father was the minister.
With her brothers, they would play Quidditch in the backyard.
Sorted into Gryffindor with both of her brothers, though she was a hatstall, the Sorting Hat deciding between her current house and Ravenclaw for five minutes.Â
She began her life at Hogwarts still with uncontrollable magic, though with a talent in transfiguration, which Dumbledore taught at this time.
She excelled in both transfiguration and Quidditch, a keeper and later captain, as her brothers were before her.
Became an animagi by her fourth year.
Was both a Prefect and later Head Girl.
Was considered a prodigy in transfiguration, essays she written making its way to being published before she was a seventh year.
At this age, her brother Malcolm went on to play Quidditch professionally, living with their grandparents in Ireland at this time. Robert was well on his way with a career, attending a Muggle school to become a lawyer for wizards.
In Minervaâs last year, Robert was murdered in the wizarding parts of London.
Some time after this, Minerva was playing her last game of Quidditch for Hogwarts, competing for the House Cup with Slytherin. In the end, she was knocked off her broom, landing with some broken rips and a nasty concussion that she still had while taking her earliest exam.
With Dumbledore as the newest Headmaster once the next semester began, he asked Minerva if she would be his replacement as a professor, responding that she didnât wish for this position at the age of eighteen, where truly this answer was due to another job offer from the Ministry in their law enforcement department, where she could discover who took her brother, guided by impulse at this time
After Graduation: 1957 - 1959
Minerva spends her last summer at home before entering a job at the Ministry, there however, she also meets a Muggle man she knew from childhood and they kindle a relationship, actually continuing an old one they had while they were teenagers another summer.
She is an Auror at the Ministry, and a proficient one, working long hours, sometimes through the night, not wishing for another to end up as her brother did.
Over time, she grew tired with the work, while she was an able dueler and highly skilled, she was a women meant for leadership and simply felt as if she was stuck and all that was created from her was destruction, never truly helping the people she wished to or giving anything constructive to the world.
Also over this time, she began to grow closer to the man from home, seeing him on weekends, taking Fridays off, until he proposed to her one evening.
He never knew she was a witch or all of her ambitions, and as staying with her would make him a target, she left him the morning after he proposed without word, except for the letter and the ring he gave her.
He died some time later unexpectedly, just around the time she spoke to Dumbledore again, where he again gave her the offer to become a professor, which she took.
Attended womenâs rights protests  in London at this time, which is also where she lived.
Professor at Hogwarts: 1959 - 1969 [ twenties ]
Her father died soon after she took this position, though she doesnât often return home as she once did, enjoying her work and her students and becoming highly respected for a stern but fair nature.
Becomes Head of Gryffindor in her early twenties, also all while staying at Hogwarts all year around as she couldnât afford a home yet.
Joined the early forms of the Order of the Phoenix.Â
Over time, she buys a house in Hogsmeade which she stays in over the summer and at times during the school year on holidays or when sick.
She does conduct experiments and research in her office, exploring untouched parts of transfiguration and discovering her own ways of creating spells.
By the time she turns thirty, with her closeness of Albus Dumbledore, the respect of her students, and proof of her worth, she begins training to become Deputy Headmisstress.
In these years as well, her mother retired from her work and stayed at home where she used to live with her husband, still attending his church.
Her brother, injured on the Quidditch field early in this decade, became a coach for the team before retiring to open up a shop with all he saved, a merchandise and bookshop in wizarding London. He must walk with a cane or make his way around in a wheelchair.
