we need to remove the immediate assumption of romantic love when someone claims they’re in love with someone. Or at least also consider that being in love with a person or thing or whatever can look different for every person. Some people experience long term love, marriage or whatever. Some feel random bursts towards close friends or even strangers in a casual conversation. In a qpr, you can be in love with your ‘partner’ and it doesn’t have to be in the romantic sense. You can care for a person deep enough without broaching that territory. You could not feel love by any standard at all, or experience it in a unique way due to a condition like low empathy, but you still have the right to say you’re in love. The same way as you choose your identity, you also choose what love looks like for you, no matter what the expectation for it is. If you’re Aroallo and in a sex positive qpr and decide that your friendship and sex life equates to love, good for you. If you have a close friend that you’d never step into an intimate territory with, you can still say you’re in love with them, or love them if that’s how you feel. If you say sexual attraction alone equals love, good for you. You define what you feel, the society we live in doesn’t.

actually liking your friends is so embarrassing but so necessary. like im really over here smiling and laughing at texts. on a discord call while we sit in silence doing our own things. talking for literal hours and not even realizing. platonically head-over-heels.
