Thanks so much for bringing this blog back!
My pleasure.
Is it normal to speak without any hesitation the one moment and then start stuttering the next? Or like over the course of multiple days? Cause I feel like I have some kind of speech thing but I’m not sure what it is, or if I’m putting more importance on it than it actually is. I’m trying to get some kind of support to figure it out, but it’s not been easy. On one hand I can speak perfectly fine and on the other hand I always trip over my words, so who knows what’s up. Idk thanks for listening
Yes, that is “normal,” but keep in mind: Your definition of “normal” does not have to match with what society says. If you think you may stutter, has this been ongoing or recent? Does it bother you? If it doesn’t, then you have nothing to worry about. If it does, then I think there’s some soul searching involved. For the longest time, my stutter really bothered me, and that was okay. But then it started holding me back from things I really wanted to do out of fear and embarrassment. It took a lot, but now I can say it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to. Of course, there are still days when it does, but now I can snap out of it and be more forgiving with myself. It’s ok to stutter.

I stutter. As a result, I have been mocked, insulted, misjudged and refused service.
it be like that
Nice Day
Good speech days
What makes a day a good speech day? The stars align and I feel I can speak with ease and very little hesitation or self consciousness about my speech. I feel “fluent.” Like most wouldn’t notice my stutter, or at least recognize it because I was so fluent with it. And neither can I. Any other day I feel I am blocking constantly and feeling bad about the reactions. You can’t get trapped in people’s reactions and bad moments or it will consume you. Shake it off; what if, your speech sounds good every day? ♥ your speech.
Things I needed to hear today.
Having a stutter sucks sometimes, and it’s so easy to feel embarrassed because of it. Seeing this makes me feel so much better 💛

I love stuttering because it made me look past the discomfort and look within myself and it was there I found there was nothing “wrong” with my speech but my feelings about it
I don’t like WWYD, or support the show, but I liked the recent episode about stuttering. It is important to have an open dialogue about it where ppl aren’t afraid to speak up and ask questions. Are you okay with me finishing your sentences? Are you nervous? Are you high rn? Do you love this shit?
It’s ok to stutter: and the more awareness, the less stigma. Yes, sometimes it takes me longer to express myself and may require a little more patience at first. But if you can’t deal with that, why not? Look past the discomfort and be a real person.
Phone books: aren’t a thing anymore but my speech therapist used to say, “pick up a phone book and start calling places A-Z,” in responses to me desperately wondering how and wanting to get over my fear of talking on the phone. I didn’t necessarily pick up a phone book and start calling places to practice my speech, but I started talking to this girl I really liked and that made me love her and my voice.

Speak up and let your voice be heard because what you have to say is worth hearing.
If someone has a stutter please don’t feel the need to point it out/stare at them. Today at work a coworker of mine felt the need to stare at me than comment on my stutter right in front of the customer I was talking to. It’s already enough having the customer loo at me funny because of it but my coworker felt the need to co-sign along with her.
Yes I know I just stuttered, yes I’ve stuttered all my life. It’s enough when people mock you/make a joke about your speech impediment.
Why is it so hard you know. “Not to blatantly point out something someone is clearly already insecure about”.
I just had to get that off my chest because it happens way to often. This is my little PSA.
