How I feel to be done with the semester and my internship at ProdigyPR:)

Felt much better going to work this week! The sun is finally back out in LA and I’m feeling much more motivated again. I only have 2 more days at the office and so I’m a little nostalgic to the beginning of the semester when I first started working at prodigy. I remember the first time I ate my lunch in the park and I thought to myself, this is truly an adult life at work. I was given tasks that kept me busy almost my entire work day this week too so that was nice. Feeling good again:) 

Unrelated, today, I worked on updating the calendar that we keep with Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Billboards schedules on. We make sure that we have as much and as accurate of information on their posting schedules to be able to coordinate with them and since this constantly changes, we have to update it almost weekly and today it was my turn. 

I watched films this week and pulled clips. I’ve gotten pretty good at pulling clips and formatting them. I remember at the beginning of the semester when I needed to triple check I was formatting them correctly before sending them off but now it’s almost second nature. 

This week I worked on creating a massive media coverage report for one of our film projects and it was some pretty tedious work, but it was nice to be needed and be working on something all day at work. Some days are much slower than others so there isn’t as much work to do but I really like days where I’m given one or more tasks that fills the hours of being there. It’s also cool to see my work being used and given to clients. 

This is the park that I eat lunch at every day on my lunch break at work. I really like my hours for my internship because I don’ t have to come in until 11 so I avoid the morning traffic and then I work for two hours before taking my hour lunch break at 1. I usually bring my own lunch from home and then just to get out of the office and get some sun mid-day, I walk across the street to this park and sit and eat. Then I come back to work for 3 more hours before leaving the office at 5. The day usually goes by pretty fast which is nice and I’m kept pretty busy for the most part so I’m productive too:) Almost to spring break and still really enjoying my internship! I’ve learned a lot

This week at work there weren’t any super new and exciting projects just some random assignments here and there. But I thought I would share a pic of Kellie who is another one of the interns that I work with on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Not only is she a fellow LMU student, but she’s actually one of my sorority sisters! And there is one other of our sorority sisters who interns here on Mondays and Wednesdays:) 

This week there wasn’t a ton of projects to do and so a lot of the work was split between me and the other intern. However, I did have to reteach myself the tools of Photoshop to work on some photo editing. Luckily, I got the hang of it all again:)

FRONT DESK INTERN!!:) This week I learned that it is very tedious to sift through thousands of photo stills from movie sets to find the best 500 possible and get them approved. But I also worked on media coverage for a film that was at Sundance which was more enjoyable work. 

Finished my first week at ProdigyPR!! I spent my first week in this conference room watching films that they are representing/marketing and helping pull clips to use for teasers, sneak peaks, and promos on social media. I also worked on social media engagement in which I interacted with fans and account pages. First week ✔️

My reaction to the fact that tomorrow I begin my internship at Prodigy Public Relations in Santa Monica! I’m anxious to start work and interested to see what the workload will be like. My boss is an LMU alum which is super awesome and when I interviewed there last semester, they mentioned some of the projects that they’ve worked on and represented in the past which were all really cool. For the past two weeks, I have been spending my Tuesdays and Thursdays at home, trying to be as productive as possible. I took advantage of my time off by getting ahead on homework, going to the gym, and watching Jane the Virgin on Netflix :) But alas, that time is up and tomorrow the real work begins! Can’t wait!!!
