Kyoya is cool, collected, intelligent, resourceful, and a soft teddy bear hiding under an armor of ice. Basically everything you wish you could be. Then no one could ever hurt you again. If you're able to figure out the kind of person they are then you can avoid their knife before they get the chance to say hello.

You're not afraid of being crossed out by your friends once they realize your aloofness can be boiled down to pretentiousness. Oh no, you're just being smart. Gotta look out for number one, after all. You'd rather take your leave before you're left in anyone's dust.

There are a lot of really subtle lessons hiding beneath the shock value of Squid Game. Each of the games when viewed individually is a striking thought experiment, but when you compare the games and view the entire competition as a whole, it’s a thorough condemnation of the human race.

What’s the difference between the marbles game and tug-of-war? Nothing, except one exploits human connection to elicit tragedy, while the other thrives on innate group think to inspire bloodthirsty competition.
