Better to have Loved and Lost
He closes the drawer. ânothing..â he says. Amy didntâ understand that fivemonths was barely a breathe for him. He didnât want to show Amy anything. He just felt like he wanted to be alone again. âBela left by herself..â he says. He turns to her. âLook Iâm fineâŚI just need time by myself..I have things to do AmyâŚplaces to save and I donât need to worry about cats or Bela drinking herself to deathâŚa Timelord came back..I have to deal with thatâŚâ he says. âI canât drag any of you into that either..â he says.Â
Amy noticed him close the drawer and it felt like a blow to the stomach. So... what? He didn't trust her? She didn't understand. She was just a human and would never understand pain or grief or loss like he could, would she?
Her anger got the better of her, as much as she tried to calm herself down. Her fists clenched as too raw memories were brought up. "My husband is dead," she whispered deathly quiet. "My daughter was possessed by a demon and I nearly lost her too. I almost lost everything and it's only because of my friends that I didn't. You should be thankful, Doctor, that you have so many people who care about you. Instead of pushing them away, you should keep them close. You never know when you'll lose them..."
She tightened her jaw and stopped the tears from spilling before she turned on her heel and charged towards the door.
