In Titanic they couldn't have shared the door. Why? Because of basic physics. The weight those doors could handle without dipping into water wasn't huge. It's a great thing it carried one body of an adult at all! And if Jack and Rose tried to lie on the door together it would've dipped and may even make them drown, turning around and covering them underwater, which, given the fact that they could barely move in the freezing cold water as it was, they would have thin chances of swimming up from under the door. And even if they did succeed both wold be in the water, unless one of them decided that the other should be on the door, just like in the movie.

There was nothing to be done, really.

And as for the Passengers - the thing was too small to fit two adults at once. And even if it wasn't - the software or whatever that was was programmed for one person, and if there were two it could mean that they could be put to sleep in a wrong way, causing harm to one or both of them and/or breaking down the machine.

It's not that simple sometimes 🤷🏻‍♀️
