emily  wanted  to  say  that  she  hadn't  meant  that  he  was  like  bruce.  only  that  they  both  had  a  way  of  going  off  the  rails  when  she  was  in  trouble.  looking  up  at  him,  she  moved  her  hand  to  curl  it  around  his  own  to  ground  herself.  “i'm  not  good  at  asking  for  help.”  emily  muttered  with  a  sigh.  “the  guy  i've  been  seeing  –  garrett.  i  broke  up  with  him  last  week  and  let's  just  say  things  didn't  end  well.  he's  threatening  to  release  photos  of  me  to  the  press.”  she  swallowed  thickly.  “photos  that  i  sent  to  him  that  were  supposed  to  be  private.  he's  asking  for  fifty  thousand  dollars.  normally,  i  would  pay  it  and  be  done  with  it,  but  i'd  have  to  dip  into  my  trust  fund  and  if  i  do  that  dad  will  know.”

“no,  wait.”  realizing  what  she'd  said  –  even  if  it  was  true  to  some  extent  –  emily  quickly  followed  jason  and  caught  the  back  of  his  jacket  sleeve.  “jay,  i'm  sorry.  i  didn't  mean  it  like  that.  i  just  meant  that  you're  overprotective  when  it  comes  to  me  and  i  don't  want  to  escalate  things.  it's  the  same  with  my  dad.”  she  explained  carefully.  “this  is  …  a  really  complicated  issue  and  i  don't  know  what  to  do.  i  was  going  to  go  to  the  family  attorney,  but  i  knew  if  i  did  that  dad  would  find  out.  and  i  want  to  avoid  that  at  all  costs.” 

barbara smiled at her friend ❝well i am sorry, trying to keep gotham in check now that bruce has left, and so have the titans, but i promise i'll get better at reaching out.❞ she motioned for dawn to sit across from her ❝its not someone, but more of an idea of something i wanna float by you❞ she began taking a breath ❝i know since hank, you've given up the life, and i don't want to pull you back in but,❞ she sighed ❝i have this idea, an idea of an all girls team.❞

dawn  plopped  down  in  the  seat  and  leaned  back  with  a  curious  expression.  “float  away.”  her  demeanor  changed  slightly  at  the  mention  of  hank.  it  didn't  matter  how  much  time  passed  since  his  death.  it  still  affected  her.  little  things  would  take  her  back  to  a  happier  time.  her  brow  furrowed  at  barbara's  suggestion.  “a  team  of  all  female  vigilantes?”  she  questioned.  “the  titans  aren't  up  for  the  job  anymore?"
