"I hope for you that you see them again too. But at the same time, I will mourn if you were to leave Narnia." She said softly, her eyes on his, a small smile on her lips. "I have never been blessed with Siblings." She told him. She had always been an only child... and now, she was just alone.

"Do not diminish your actions out there King Edmond." She told him. "You fought as well as any other man out there, and they are more than welcomed to join the celebration also, you will just be my special guest." She smiled.

"Oh Good, Let me just inform the kitchens, and then while they prepare and get the word out, we shall explore." She suggested.

Edmond felt himself blush. He had fought hard and long, and he did everything he did for his love of narnia, but usually people forgot about him once Peter came in the room. Which most of the time he didn't mind, but it was nice to feel that acknowledgement ❝thank you miss parker, that means a lot.❞

Elizabeth always endeavored to be the paragon of royal decorum, but tonight, the facade was wearing perilously thin. She stood on the edge of the ballroom, her gaze fixed sharply on a particularly persistent debutante who seemed determined to ignore the gold band on Ezra’s finger. Ordinarily, she might have pulled him away with a subtle, practiced grace, but there was a new, biting heat in her chest that she wasn’t quite ready to name.

Two months ago, their union had been a tactical maneuver—a marriage of convenience to shield him from his sisters' burdens and her from her mother’s relentless matchmaking. Yet, as she watched the girl flutter her fan, Elizabeth realized that "convenience" didn't quite cover the possessive spark now lighting up her dark eyes. Ezra might have been clueless or simply disinterested in the flirtation, but Elizabeth certainly was not.

"I suggest you quit messing with things you have no business messing with," she bit back, stepping into the fray with a sharp, regal tilt of her head. Her frustration was clear, slicing through the polite hum of the party like a blade. "In case you have missed any rumor or writing in London recently, he is the son-in-law to the Queen as my husband. So, why don’t you go bat your eyelashes elsewhere instead of upsetting royalty?"

She didn't wait for a response, her hand sliding almost instinctively toward Ezra's arm, claiming her space with an authority that left no room for argument. She might have married him for a quiet life, but she was discovering that she wasn't nearly as indifferent to him as she’d originally promised herself she would be.

It didn't hurt that Elizabeth was absolutely beautiful, brilliant and talented. It was quite easy to be around her, when she wasn't being stubborn or picking fights over small things, they tended to have fun together. However, he knew that this was more than just a friendship for him, he'd begun to have real feelings for her which scared him since he had only ever been in love with one woman, Josephine and he lost her years ago. 

Your course was being polite with the woman that were talking to him, and he was not naive in the sense that he did not know this one was flirting with him, but she was a daughter of a visiting diplomat, and he knew that if he was rude it could cause some issues. Besides, even though he was a duke, he was still looked at as an outsider, since his family had never been that involved in politics before. 

Elizabeth's possessiveness made him smile. It was unlike her, and he wondered why. He bit the one woman farewell, held out his arm and gently walked with his wife off to a secluded spot. He did not know why she would think anything would happen, he made a promise on their wedding night that he would never do anything to disrespect her, which included having affairs. Besides, this woman was not his type. He looked at her and said ❝all right, what's going on?❞

Hadley Sullivan wasn't exactly the type to start a scene, but watching some random girl practically drape herself over Jake at the party was rapidly testing her patience. She stood a few feet away, her arms crossed as she watched the interaction with a sharp, calculating gaze. Jake was naturally kind—it was one of the things she loved most about him—but his polite smiles were clearly being misinterpreted as an invitation.

Usually, Hadley was the level-headed one, the girl who preferred a quiet night in with a good book over the chaos of a Tree Hill rager, but the possessive spark lighting up in her chest was new and surprisingly loud. She had spent enough time worrying about where she fit into Jake’s world; she wasn't about to let someone else try to slide into her spot. Stepping forward, she didn't say a word at first, simply sliding her hand into Jake's and interlocking their fingers with a firm, grounding pressure. She caught the other girl's eyes, offering a thin, sugary-sweet smile that didn't quite reach her own eyes. "Sorry to interrupt," Hadley drawled, her voice smooth but carrying an unmistakable edge of authority. "But I think we were actually just about to head out. Right, Jake?"

She leaned into his side, her head resting briefly against his shoulder as she felt him squeeze her hand back, a silent confirmation that he was exactly where he wanted to be. She didn't need to be mean—her presence and the way Jake instantly shifted his attention entirely to her said everything the other girl needed to hear. "I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for," Hadley added, her smirk widening just a fraction as she began to lead him away. "It's just definitely not over here."

It didn't feel possessive or like she was accusing him of anything, it just felt that she was letting everybody know that they were together. He couldn't help but feel happy. But why are they officially together? Sure they were together all the time, and they had kissed a few times, but they never really talked about it. Of course he didn't want this other girl, he wanted her, but they were both hesitant because of their children. 

Texas nodded goodbye to the girl who probably walked out with Hadley. After a few moments he stopped and turned to her and said  ❝that was a scene❞ he couldn't help but smile. But he was also tired of playing these games ❝I wasn't interested in her, I'm not interested in anyone except for one person❞ and he stepped closer ❝the real question is is that person interested in me?❞
