“Dialog goes here.” They said. This is wrong. “Does dialog go here?” She asked. This is wrong. “Yes!” He exclaimed. This is wrong.

Part one: If you end a statement in dialog, end it with a comma, not a period. Questions in dialog end with a question mark. Exclamations end with an exclamation point.

Part two: If you have they said, she asked, he exclaimed, and so on after dialog, do NOT capitalize the pronoun. The “[pronoun] [dialog word]” part isn’t a separate sentence. It’s all part of the same sentence.

Note: If you switch the order, then capitalize both the pronoun and the dialog.

Hey, if you don’t mind sharing, I’ve always wondered how you got that soft celling look on your characters in your comic. Any tips? I’m currently working on my own comic and I kind of want to go for a less harsh form of cell shading. Thanks!
